Like all conventions, there must be cosplayers. And when there are cosplayers, there’s a cosplay competition. As always, I attend the cosplay events as it’s the best time to take photos of some of the cosplayers that I usually miss when walking around. So hit the jump to check out some of the cosplayers that made an appearance at Supanova Sydney 2007 Saturday. WARNING: Picture intensive post.

One of the good changes made to Supanova this year, is the location of the Madman Anime Theatre. Last year it was located at the amphitheatre outside the rest of the convention, and although the use of an amphitheatre is good, the amount of outside lighting was horrible. In places there was not enough light and places there was too much light. This time around it’s situated inside and with plenty of room to move around. Luckily photographer partner Bubby and myself got there early and planted ourselves at the front in the aisle so we got the best spots.

That’s it for this set. So far the level of cosplays is average, but there were some good ones in there. Like the Buu, Tsubasa Chronicle group, Optimus Prime, and the white lion. Some of the cosplayers made an appearance before at Animania two weeks ago, so not much to comment on them.
Despite me being pretty close to the stage, I kept bouncing between the use of the flash and no flash. I found that using the flash kept bouncing back because of the screen behind, giving that slight flared look in some photos. Also I’m not sure why some of the photos turned out dark but I think I might try no flash next time. Photos above had some mild post-processing just for publishing purposes. If you want any of the photos that you see here, send an email to adun[at]moemoerabu[dot]net. I’ll do a proper post-processing to the photo to see if I can get a better result.
Onwards to Part 2!

The Majin Buu is awesome I notice most of the better ones are the Asians, while the caucasians don’t look like they put in effort at all. And lol at Lacus.
GAHHHHH, my eyes burn after seeing the male Leia’s. Itai, Itai, Itai…..I assume they dropped their red royal guard outfint to expose themselves…
Omg everyone is so fat~ Do the readers a favor and remove the pic of that Fatcus >_
Lol @ Optimus.
Haha the guys cosplaying Leia after dropping their royal guard suit made me laugth ^^
And same remark as tj_han about the effort put in the costumes.
Haha how do you think i felt in that star wars skit, i got a nice close view of the entire show cosplaying as the sandtrooper in the background. But you definetly took some great photos, I only hope mine come out half as good
tj han: Asians always do awesome cosplays, since we’re always so skinny and all. But still, there are some caucasians that can pull off some cosplays better than asians.
AS: How do you think I felt? I was right up the front, lol.
Kenny Liu: As much as I would want to, but I’m just posting them for the world to see.
samejima: LOL indeed, even more funnier is that he is a friend of mine.
lu-k: I kind of expected something like this when the music started playing. Funny indeed, but I got front row seats which is a little disturbing.
DroidTracker: Still, you are a brave man to have joined the group and stand on stage with them.
WHY did no one get a picture of the second chrono?! His ponytail reached the full length! AND HE WAS A GUY!!!! Dx
