Impressions
The new season is off to a pretty good start and Bamboo Blade is the 3rd show that was on the preview list of shows to watch. If anything, Bamboo Blade took me a little by surprise, but in a good way. The basis of the story is Ishida Toraji is a teacher who made a wager with an old friend that he gets a year’s worth of free food if he wins. All he has to do is get the kendo club he manages to defeat his friend’s team, but he needs an all-girl team, which there is only one member. This being the first episode, it has done well to introduce the series, even though there isn’t much revealed just yet.
Quite a number of different characters are already introduced and with voiced by some well established seiyuu’s. Most notably is Toraji, voiced by Konishi Katsuyuki (Kamina from Gurren-Lagann) and suits the role well. The lead girl Kawazoe Tamaki, voiced by Hirohashi Ryou (Alice Carroll from ARIA) keeps making me think that it’s Alice-chan that is kicking some serious ass here. Others include Toyoguchi Megumi (Revy from Black Lagoon) as Kirino, Kuwashima Houko (Fllay from Gundam Seed) as Miyako, and many others as they are introduced.
Bamboo Blade would be classifed as a sports anime, and from most of the sports animes that I have watched, they turned out pretty good. The animation is by AIC A.S.T.A, although not many series under their belt, but some notable series such as GUNxSWORD, and Tokimeki Memorial, I can see that animation will be consistent through the series. The OP and ED sequences are nothing too extraordinary, but I do like the theme songs played as they consists of the 5 girls together. Songs like that I usually enjoy, similar to hearing “LoveLoveLove no Sei na no yo!” which I enjoy, despite it being from a crap series, lol.
So far my Bamboo Blade is looking to be promising. My favourite girl from the first episode would have to be Kirino and I’m sure it’ll be like that throughout the series. Of course it’s too early to tell how the series will play out but I’m sure it’ll get more interesting once the other girls are introduced. Another series to add to the watch list, but not something I’ll keep blogging.

Heh, I was just listening to Love Love Love no sei na no yo…
“Kuwashima Houko (Fllay from Gundam Seed) as Miyako”
Here’s to hoping that once she gets further involved with the club that she develops the ability to read an opponents movements by sensing the flow of energy in their bodies.
(now I sit back and see how many people actually get that…)
We’re not worthy we’re not worthy Tama-chan oxxoxoxo
