Impressions
Now that all my Animania coverage is done, what better way to continue than to kick start off the new season with the first episode Da Capo II. With me being a huge D.C fan, I am crying waterfalls that it has finally started airing, and this is only the start. With this being the first episode, we’re given a rather quick intro to all the characters, minus Minatsu.
Although the focus of this episode is on Koko, and heck, we’re even kicking off with a confession straight away. Personally I never have gone through Koko’s route in the game, but I do know that she has a rather normal story. But with 5 other stories to bring in, I can see that Koko and Yoshiyuki breaking up within the next few episodes. Though I do wonder how the other stories will mix in since the series is only slated for a 13 episode run (luckily for me that means less DVDs to purchase), but ultimately it’ll be a showdown between Otome and Yume. With fellow siscon lover Stripey rooting for Yume, I on the other hand shall be rooting for an Otome ending. Everytime I hear Otome say “Ototo-kun”, I simply just melt.
With production being handled by FEEL, it somehow lacks essence compared to D.C.S.S and Otoboku. That isn’t to say the animation is bad, but I think that they could level it up a bit since this is only 13 episodes. However this is only the first episode, and FEEL could pull a trick or two which may surprise us, but we shall have to wait and see.
The OP/ED doesn’t hit me like the usual yozuca* and CooRie songs, but I think it’ll have to grow on me first. I was hoping they would use “Asaki Yumemishi Ki”, which is the same opening theme as the game, but perhaps they may use parts of the game OST later on in the series. The ED sequence I think is wonderful and it’s a different approach as compared to the previous Da Capo series.
Well it’s a definite series to blog for me, since it’s short and one of the ones I looked forward to. Hopefully I can keep up with the blogging , but damn it, I want episode 2 now!

the end of episode 1 makes me feel that

I’m with you rooting for Otome–good first episode, I can see why some people said it felt like a LAST episode with the Koko kokukaku at the end. I agree though, most likely Yoshiyuki will be breaking up with her in the next few episodes, it can’t be a good sign for Koko that he only replied after she was about to start crying…
Haven’t seen it yet (waiting for some subs), but can’t wait to seen it ^^

Like yourself I want ep 2 now too! Frankly 13 eps with 6 girls is really cutting it very tight. I had expected FEEL to drop Koko and maybe Minatsu’s stories to focus on the more noteworthy ones but it looks like they are thinking of the exact opposite with Koko emphasis in ep 1 and Minatsu in ep 2 (the title’s a dead giveaway - banana and human). As long as they mess up the rest of the cast’s tales, I’ll be a happy tanuki.

Nymeria: Indeed a little disappointing, but it gives way for the Koko story to start and finish within a few episodes. But like I said, it’ll finish within a few 2 episodes and then move on to the other girls.
suguru: The problem I see now is that Nanaka’s story kind of goes alongside Koko’s since the two are best friends. If they plan to finish her story soon, that may mean the same for Nanaka.
lu-k: Even without subs you can enjoy watching it. Though normally I’d watch it subbed, but there are some series I watch raw because I want to watch it right away.
Stripey: I wonder why they decided to cut it to 13 episodes. Knowing the stories for half the girls, the time range that their stories go are over a few months, and with 6 girls, I’ll be surprised if FEEL can pull it off well, though I doubt that. Definitely want ep 2!
Xellos-_^: I would be quite sadden if we see something like this in D.C.II. But luckily we won’t.
