Autumn 2007 Season Preview

With the Summer 2007 Season coming to an end in a few weeks, it’s time to look at what new series are going to be premiering, with quite a few that I am quite interested in, or have waited for quite a long time. But of course there are also some other series that do perk my interests so I’ll have a look at those as well. As usual, the place to get info on the shows coming up this Autumn can be found at Moonphase. But of course not all of us can read the moon language (well neither can I to an extent), so you can check out hashihime who’s done an pretty thorough job of outlining most of the new shows.

D.C. II ~Da Capo II~
http://www.starchild.co.jp/special/dc2/
Air Date: 1st October.

Now I’m a BIG BIG fan of the Da Capo series, and with Da Capo II being made into an anime, I’m just over the moon. A few recognizable seiyuu’s int he cast such as Horie Yui, Shizuka Itou, and Chihara Minori it’s looking to be quite a treat. Animation is done by feel who also did Otoboku, Da Capo Second Season, and Nagasarete Airantou.

Bamboo Blade
http://www.bambooblade.jp/pc/
Air Date: 1st October.

5 girls in a kendo club. Not much info on the actual website but it looks pretty interesting and we might see some nice kendo fighting scenes so it’ll be on the watch list.

Chances of Blogging: Low

Sketch Book ~full color’s~
http://www.sketch-full.net/
Air Date: 1st October.

Another 4-koma comic turned anime. A slice of life anime that looks somewhat similar to Hidamari Sketch but without the acid trip. So far from what I’ve seen, most 4-koma turned animes have worked out well, with the exception of Doujin Work, so it’ll definitely be on the watch list.

Chances of Blogging: Low

Blue Drop ~Tenshitachi no Gikyoku~
http://blue-drop.jp/
Air Date: 1st October.

Humanoid aliens want to take over the Earth, and one alien spy befriends a schoolgirl. Well the animation from the official site make it look pretty good. It appears it’ll have a solid story so I’ll definite give this a watch.

Chances of blogging: Low

Kaiji ~Ultimate Survivor~
http://www.ntv.co.jp/kaiji/
Air Date: 2nd October.

Straight up I can tell that this is done by the same mangaka as Akagi, Fukumoto Nobuyuki. Though the drawing style may look ass, it will make up for it with the thrilling experience of the gambling world. Hagiwara Masato is the seiyuu for Kaiji, who also did Akagi, and it’s going to be handled by the same staff as Akagi.

Chances of Blogging: Good

Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro
http://www.ntv.co.jp/neuro/
Air Date: 2nd October.

A demon from Hell who eats riddles…… Ok that sounds a little WTF to me at the moment. I’ll probably watch a few episodes but I don’t think this series will keep me interested for long.

Chances of Blogging: Low

Suteki Tantei Labyrinth
http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/anime/labyrins/
Air Date: 2nd October.

No idea on what this is about, but checking ANN, it has Horie Yui and it’s being produced by Studio DEEN. These two elements are probably what perked my interest so it’ll be nice to see how this pans out.

Chances of Blogging: Low

Night Wizard The Animation
http://www.nightwizard.jp/
Air Date: 2nd October.

Based off an RPG where it seems a high school boy enters a world of magic and ends up being a warrior, whilst getting a harem at the same time. Well the promo looked pretty cool so I’ll give this a watch.

Chances of Blogging: Low

Myself ; Yourself
http://www.anime-myyour.com/
Air Date: 2nd October.

Seems like a high school romance drama, which I’ll most likely end up liking very much. The character designs I’m liking a lot so we’ll see how this turns out, heck it might even surprise us with something.

Chances of Blogging: Low

Goshūshō-sama Ninomiya-kun
http://www.anime-myyour.com/
Air Date: 3rd October.

Maids, gotta love a show with maids. Again, no idea what it’s about, but it’s two maids and one master. Somehow I can sense something very ecchi about this. But what the hey, I’ll end up watching it.

Chances of Blogging: Low

You’re Under Arrest: Full Throttle
http://www.tbs.co.jp/anime/taiho/
Air Date: 4th October.

Such a shame that I never actually watched the original You’re Under Arrest so I’m not sure what to expect from this new series. However I can tell the look has been updated and that they even have the original cast.

Chances of Blogging: Low

Clannad
http://www.tbs.co.jp/clannad/
Air Date: 4th October.

OMG OMG OMG. This is another series that I have been waiting so long for, and it’s finally here. I just knew KyoAni would pick up Clannad sooner or later since they done both Air and Kanon, but it’s finally here! Definitely one of the most anticipated shows of this season.

Chances of Blogging: Definite

Shakugan no Shana II
http://www.shakugan.com/
Air Date: 4th October.

Everyone’s favourite flaming red haired tsundere loli is back for a second season! Yes it’s Shana! I enjoyed the first season quite a lot and it’s always good to have more. Definitely another series that I have eagerly been anticipating, though not sure if I’ll be blogging this as I’m sure other bloggers will.

Chances of Blogging: Good

Mobile Suit Gundam 00
http://www.gundam00.net/
Air Date: 6th October.

Now this is what I think is going to happen. Two factions, one builds a Gundam, the other steals a Gundam, a war starts, many killings, newtype/seed mode goes blazing, some bullshit ending where the Gundams have survived a vicious battle without damage. I pray that it doesn’t happen like this, but I still bet that someone will steal a Gundam. It’s happened in all the Gundam series I have seen.

Chances of Blogging: Low

ef - a tale of memories
http://www.ef-memo.com/
Air Date: 6th October.

After the end of sola, I was quite sadden that I won’t be seeing an anime with Nanao Naru’s works, but then an announcement about ef was made and my frown turned upside down. Based on the game ef - a fairy tale of the two produced by Minori, it’s definitely another series I have been anticipating, and if the trailer had anything to show, my god this is going to be awesome. Music by Tenmon and animation by Shaft, can’t wait!

Chances of Blogging: Definite

Kimikiss pure rouge
http://www.kimikiss-pure-rouge.jp/
Air Date: 6th October.

Based off a game with the same name, it has Kasai Kenichi as the director (same as Honey & Clover and Nodame Cantabile) and with a group of well known seiyuus including Mizuhashi Kaori, Noto Mamiko, Tanaka Rie, Nakahara Mai and Nogawa Sakura. A definite watcher but not sure if I’ll blog it just yet.

Chances of Blogging: Good

Prism Ark
http://www.p-ark.tv/
Air Date: 7th October.

Yet another h-game turned anime, except with this one I have no bloody idea on what it’s about. But the drawing style is not anything too flash either so this may be a disappointer. But I’ll still give it a chance before I pass my judgment on it.

Chances of Blogging: Low

Genshiken 2
http://www.genshiken.info/
Air Date: 9th October.

The second season of Genshiken was long overdue, but it’s finally here! There’s just something about otakus watching other otakus live out their daily lives. Who knows what it is, but who cares. Anyway I hope that with season 2 it’ll cover as much of manga as possible.

Chances of Blogging: Good

Koharu Biyori
http://www.koharubiyori.net/
Air Date: 14th October.

Technically not a series, but it’s an OVA. A guy orders a robot as his maid and dresses her up however he wants. Now this sounds really ecchi, which isn’t such a bad thing, however this is animated by Doumu, the ones who brought us YoakeNa ~Cabbage Love~. I still can’t believe that they also produced Onegai Teacher and Onegai Twins. Moving on as this is an OVA, it’s a one off so I’ll probably blog it.

Chances of Blogging: Good

Ghost Hound
http://www.ghosthound.tv/
Air Date: 18th October.

A Production I.G series, now this is interesting. Some big names went into the production of this such as Chiaki J. Konaka (writer for Lain) with Shirow Masamune as the original creator. Let’s hope this turns out better than something as crap as Le Chevalier.

Chances of Blogging: Low

Strait Jacket
http://www.straitjacket.jp/index2.html
Air Date: 25th November.

Looks awesome and dark. Although this is a long way away, like near the end of November so hopefully I’ll remember about it when the time comes. Not sure what this is about but it looks good. Hopefully won’t be as bad as Devil May Cry.

Chances of Blogging: Low

So a whole 21 series I’ve listed here, but of course my watching habits will change after a few weeks into the new season. Not all the series are listed here, and I may have missed quite a few, but I’ll be trying to watch at least the first episode of everything. As usual, don’t expect too much of a write up when the season starts, I’ll leave that to some of the other bloggers who have more time and do a better job than I do.

Anyway this Autumn season is looking to be a great one, just like most Autumn seasons in the past. So which one are you looking forward to?

    - Blue Drop because it seems interesting. Aliens, what look like mecha, and a schoolgirl protagonist. Although hopefully it won’t turn out like Jinki:Extend. Dear God the final ep of that was so bullshit…
    - Gundam 00 because I simply must see how Fukuda handles it. If he puts two friends on opposite sides I’ll make myself taller. An interesting point to note is that Kenji Kawai is doing the music (F/SN anime) so hopefully at least the OST will be good. On a random note, there was a post on 4chan that was apparently a 00 screencap, showing what looked like an RX-78 with the Turn A’s Moonlight Butterfly system in action…
    - Night Wizard because you had be at harem. The miko and redhead with the cannon appeal. Also, is it just me or does the guy look like Kyon?

D.C.II, Clannad, ef - a tale of memories, Genshiken & Shana 2, all definitely!
Bamboo Blade looks funny, I’ll give it a try.
Want to see also the new You’re Under Arrest :)

  4. 4 suguru Sep 18th, 2007 at 1:03 am

Between D.C. II and Shana II, I’ll be in heaven this fall–I’m in the process of re-watching the first season of Shana, which is making me look forward to the second even more. Looking forward to D.C. II more than anything else though–I wish there was a promotional video or some images on their site, but it looks like they’re keeping it under wraps for now…

  5. 5 samejima Sep 18th, 2007 at 1:03 am

Genshiken2, DCII, Gundam 00 on my list… now, got a “new” reason why I couldn’t stop watching anime…

  6. 6 samejima Sep 18th, 2007 at 1:04 am

You’re under arrest full throttle also on the list, btw.

  7. 7 AS Sep 18th, 2007 at 5:41 am

Genshiken, Shana, and Bamboo Girl is on my list. Just waiting for everything to come out to watch and not do any studying but blogging because of it lol.

  8. 8 Adun Sep 18th, 2007 at 6:27 am

khardic paladin: Let’s hope it does turn out like Jinki Extend.

Nymeria: I set it to three as it would be your top 3 shows that you look forward to.

suguru: Keep an eye on the site over the next two weeks as I’m sure they’ll bring out more info.

samejima: You need a reason to keep watching anime? lol.

AS: I actually loose sleep from doing blogging, lol. Well, only on some days but not all the time.

  9. 9 robin Sep 18th, 2007 at 9:43 am

I’m really only looking forward to You’re Under Arrest. Hopefully someone will fansub it.

  10. 10 Hiyuu Sep 18th, 2007 at 12:17 pm

Wow I love your update lists of upcoming anime! Sometimes i miss out on anime i’ve been waiting for especially when friends around decide it’s not worth mentioning, hence i get no info about it at all.

    1) CLANNAD - :D i’m a big fan of the key/KyoAni series.
    2) DaCapoII - Nemu coughing sakura petals, Aisia making sakura petals, both ended with the sakura tree dying. How’s this one gonna go?
    3) Shakugan No Shana - Loli Tsundere Red hair/eyes melon pan =

  11. 11 Riki Sep 18th, 2007 at 12:52 pm

Well I’m mostly looking forward to Kodomo no Jikan but perhaps you’ve counted the OVA as the start, in that case I would say:

    Clannad
    Da Capo 2
    Ef

  12. 12 Danny Sep 18th, 2007 at 5:22 pm

Noooo, Clannad’s beating Shana II! Nice post though btw

    My choices are:

    1. Shana II
    2. Gundam Zero
    3. Clannad
    4. Genshiken 2
    5. Minami-ke

  13. 13 samejima Sep 18th, 2007 at 9:42 pm

    Yes.Lawl.

  14. 14 AmakusaZero Sep 19th, 2007 at 2:06 pm

    1. Shakugan no Shana
    2. Gundam 00
    3. Prism Ark

will at least watch 1st episode:
    - Clannad
    - Ghost Hound
    - Mokke
    - Bamboo Blade
    - Shugo Chara
    - Sketchbook

  15. 15 FlameStrike Sep 21st, 2007 at 7:20 am

Holycrap Clannad, Shana, D.C II, and some other good looking shows, this season will be great. I just hope those guys don’t screw up D.C II like D.C.S.S Ugh, I’m pretty much only watching it for Nanaka because she’s so awesome. Otome is fine too but Nanaka is the win.

  16. 16 Adun Sep 21st, 2007 at 8:06 am

Wow, I’m surprised by the amount of responses people have posted and the results of the poll. Guess people can’t resist the cute girls form all the harem series.

  17. 17 FlameStrike Sep 22nd, 2007 at 7:01 am

Heh, well that’s just the initial expectations. I’m a fan of Shonen too but I don’t get my hopes up for anyone them. In the end DtB, Heroic age, and Claymore where some of my favorites too. And yeah, cute girls make a strong first impression heh.

  18. 18 Adun Sep 22nd, 2007 at 7:38 am

FlameStrike: Although my interest are mainly focused on all those moe, I do watch a variety of other shows like DtB, Heroic Age and Claymore. It does seems that this season is full of cute girls, however I do look forward to other series like Kaiji, Strait jacket and Ghost Hound.

  19. 19 bangbang Sep 30th, 2007 at 8:10 pm
