Doujin Work – 06

September 16, 2007 | Author: | In: Anime Blogs, Doujin Work

Finally we get to find out Najimi’s rival’s name, which is Nidou Kaneru, but other than that she really is just a normal person, and that’s all we see in this episode. But at least it does reflect somewhat on the life of a doujin artist. Many doujin artists have primary jobs and draw doujins as a hobby because they enjoy doing it, very much like me having this blog of mine.

Anyway this episode simply introduces Kaneru and how she is now part of Najimi’s circle of friends, even though she is considered a rival, and right now I don’t think it’ll develop that much further. To be honest, I found this episode to be really boring. There pretty much was no humour in this episode except for Kaneru’s clumsiness and embarrassment over her bear print panties. And with the god awful animation, it doesn’t help in the enjoyment level of this episode either.

As of now I’m going to drop blogging Doujin Work simply because I don’t think it will get any better. Najimi’s quest to earn enough gold for her desserts just isn’t enough of a story to keep me interested, and really, Doujin Work just isn’t funny anymore. I guess my expectations were a bit too high when this first started but I shall continue watching it to see if it does get better, but I really doubt that it will.

Erf… I’m still stuck at episode 4, so can’t give my impression yet on this 6th episode. But if you say so… That’s sad, since the show started very well.

I just love this series and can watch it and rewatch it and re-rewatch it without getting sick of it. I am half-way through the manga right now. I find Osana Najimi and Nidou Kaneru very relatable. They perfectly complement each other as foils and rivals. Generally speaking, there are quite a number of anime series to do with the people who create doujinshi and sell them at Comic Market. They almost deserve to be considered as a genre in their own right. Be sure to have a look at “Comic Party”, “Comic Party Revolution”, “Genshiken” and “Sasameki Koto”. However, “Doujin Work” deserves credit for giving the most hints as to their actual contents. The manga goes just a bit further.
