Although Noizi Ito’s KA·E·N was the very first thing I saw at Kinokuniya last week, I wasn’t satisfied in only just getting that. And of course, being with my good friends Roobar and Blox, doesn”t help that Roobar and I usually try to best each other in the amount we buy. Over the past few times I’ve been to Kinokuniya, I’ve been eyeing this one artbook that I”ve wanted for quite some time and I thought this was the perfect time to purchase it: Tanemura Arina’s Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne artbook.

Now I’ve been a fan of Tanemura Arina’s work ever since I watched Full Moon wo Sagashite for the whole 50 episodes straight. I shit you not, I managed to go through all of that and I loved every bit of it. And of course, I ventured out and discovered other works that Arina has worked on and one of her earlier works was Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne.

The first thing that caught my attention to Arina’s work is they way she draws her characters, and the diverse use of colours to match with them. Not to mention they are really cute and sexy. Even the way she draws guys is sexy, lol.

If there’s one thing I noticed about this artbook, it has a lot of double spread pages, and they are absolutely gorgeous. The artbook contains a whole 63 pages of artwork relating to Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne and a few pages with interview material etc. But as an extra, the book also comes with a double sided poster:

So at a price of only $35 AUD, I think it’s a bargain for something as lovely as this. Not to mention this was the only copy on the shelf, guess I was lucky for it to still be there after two months. I”m not sure how many other Tanemura Arina artbooks are out there but this is the second one that I have. The first being the Full Moon wo Sagashite one. Her current series is Shinshi Doumei Cross - The Gentlemen’s Alliance and is one of the few manga series I’m actually reading. Though I do look forward to an artbook release of it if it evers comes out.
Also I took these at photos at 8 am this morning before going to work. I should really figure out a better method of photographing artbooks.
