Doujin Work – 02

For an episode that goes for 15 minutes, some reason this felt a little longer than it did. Although unlike the first episode, I didn’t this as funny as it would be since it reuses a lot of jokes that we’ve seen in other anime series, but the best part was Tsuyuri going “Oujou-san, you dropped some porn”. But seeing Najimi taking her first steps into the doujin world somewhat reminds me of myself, lol, but of course not to that extreme.

Najimi’s attempts to avoid people knowing what she is getting involved in is pretty funny, especially when trying to hide it from her friend. But even more so when she tries to run from a police officer. However with her being a girl, I can see that she would die of embarrassment if anyone saw what she had in the bag. I would probably feel the same, but then again, I go outside and photograph figures in publc areas.
So with this episode, we’re kind of introduced to some more characters, though I doubt we’ll be seeing Najimi’s friend that often. Plus nice to see that they displayed actual h-game posters in the store. Animation is solid this week so I think we’ll definitely be seeing it consistent throughout the series. However with each episode being only 15 minutes, I’m not sure how many episodes this is slated for but the story and humour better pick up soon.

Wow, another anime about anime/otakuism.
Is this worth checking out in your opinion Adun? (Relative to Genshiken and Comic Party)?

Well this isn’t anything like Genshiken, though somewhat similar to Comic Party. However the jokes are a little dry. But for a series where each episode goes for 15 minutes you can’t expect too much at the start. I think it’s a worthwhile watch since it’s pretty short.

I know how you feel about the show feeling longer than 15 minutes. I enjoy all the naughty jokes but its a small amount in that amount of time. I recently came back from Japan and went into many “naughty stores” including doujin stores. I didn’t have Najimi’s reaction but my eyes felt like they grew bigger to take everything in lol.

I feel that Genshiken is the fun portrayal of regular Otakus such as myself – not exactly motivated to do anything special with anime and manga, but pretty passionate about them and elements included like cosplay, shows like comic party and now Doujin Work is even more hardcore in that they can actually appeal to an even more hardcore otaku crowd.
