Impressions

The very first thing that surprised me after watching this is that itis only 14 minutes long. It’s been a while since I watched a series that was only half the length of a regular show but with how Doujin Work has presented itself, it works really well. With this being based on a 4koma comic, I was rather curious to see how studio REMIC would handle this, but with Yantani Kenichi (director of Magipokan) taking care of it all, it appears to be going well. However I think this first episode kind of suffered the same thing of as Lucky Star did with all the talking, but once you listen to what the characters are saying, it ends up being rather funny.

Osana Najimi, I laughed when I heard her name (for those who don’t understand the moon speak, when combined, her name means childhood friend), is so far a pretty basic character, but her various reactions and faces she pulled makes her a rather interesting one. Voiced by Asuno Masumi, she does a good job in presenting Najimi’s character, and Najimi’s cute friend Tsuyuri is voiced by Saito Momoko does just as a good job as well.

With the animation style being very plain and simple, I actually quite like it. I’m not going to be expecting anything like KyoAni quality, but the quirkiness and simple humour goes well with the simpleness and it makes it a very enjoyable watch. The music at this point I don’t find overall exciting so I’ll probably won’t take anymore notice of them. So with this only being a 14 minute show, well less without the OP and ED, I’ll continue to watch this as it’ll go by realy fast and is an easy watch. Heck I might even blog this but I’ll wait till next week to see, since Tuesday has 6 new shows.

Also from now on, I’m not going to bother writing a summary for any of the new shows. I just can’t sum up the effort to do so as I have other things to do.

Well, REC showed that short episodes can work quite well, so why not?

What’s the point of summaries anyhow? By and large impressions are meant to be shared information, not actual previews. Besides that, most of us who follow the new season releases are going to sample first episodes across the board anyway, or are by now used to getting a few spoilers tossed at us, so I don’t really see a need for large summaries at all. o_O

boo: That is true. Though with Doujin Work based off a 4koma, it works good in a way that shows that it won’t drag on, like what lucky star kind of did in the first episode.

Hidoshi: The reason I did summaries was also for myself. I like to think of these anime posts as a way to reference a anime if I ever forget what happens as I tend to forget what happens in an anime unless it REALLY impresses me.

I enjoyed your summaries, although I never read them until I watched the actual episode myself ^-^. It’s really great for those who could become interested in watching the anime, but you have a lot of stuff going on in your life and long blog entries take some time to do. I just do first episode summaries and my impressions for the shows in my blog. I will have to find this anime, if its like Lucky Star it will take some time to get used to watching.
