Before attacking Matsuri, Aono says that she is no more and says goodbye. Matsuri manages to avoid being hit but is eventually forced to use her powers. She manages to take refuge in a tram car but Aono collapses some hanging steel supports onto the car. Although avoiding being crushed, Matsuri is badly injured to move. As Aono is ready to unleash her final attack, Matsuri says that it’s ok. Aono begins to have flashbacks from the past of Matsuri helping her but then throws her paper weapon. Though she missed Matsuri, Aono falls to her knees and begins to cry. Mayuko then turns up questioning who Aono is. Meanwhile Takeshi finds out that Sae has spotted Mayuko with Matsuri.

When Matsuri wakes up, she finds herself inside the tram car with Mayuko, wondering why she is still alive. Soon enough Yorito and Mana come by but all they find is the destruction from the battle. Mana suspects something happened but then Yorito begins to suffer from pains in his head. Mana decides to take him home, but before she does, she notices a piece of Aono’s origami paper on the ground. Though Mana actually brings Yorito to her house, where soon enough she gets a call from Aono asking about Yorito. Mana tells her that she doesn’t know where he is. Afterwards, Koyori suggests they have a curry party and to invite Aono, but due to Mana’s silence, she drops the subject.

At a tram station, Mayuko brings food back for Matsuri but she doesn’t feel like eating as she is thinking of what to do next. But she eventually begins to eat, though getting a hit from Mayuko by her bunny. As the tram arrives, Matsuri realises she forgot the bag but soon realises Takeshi is only a few metres away and he begins to draw his sword. Back at the Ishizuki house, Mana answers the door to find Aono standing there drenched and asking to see Yorito. She claims that he isn’t here, but Aono knows that’s a lie, so Mana responds by saying Aono is the one lying. She questions what Aono is hiding from Yorito, but Aono says it has nothing to do with her, and Mana responds by saying it has something to do with Matsuri. Mana then tells her to go home before shutting the door.

Takeshi has managed to chase Matsuri all the way to the docks. As he approaches her, he feels that he can finally fulfill his promise. Many years ago, Takeshi and Mayuko were childhood friends. One day Takeshi realises Mayuko’s birthday is coming up soon and asks what she wants. Mayuko says that she wants a 2nd bunny so the current one isn’t lonely. On the day of her birthday, Takeshi finds Mayuko lying dead in a pool of her own blood. He returns afterwards to leave the bunny by the gate, but she soon appears alive in front of him. Mayuko explains that she really died but was brought back to life by a female Yaka that she doesn’t know. Takeshi doesn’t care as long as she is alive, but Mayuko shows him that she burns in sunlight and doesn’t want to live like this. But Takeshi pushes her back into the shade and promises her that he’ll return her to normal. It is with these feelings that he charges at Matsuri.

Injured badly, Matsuri manages to dodge Takeshi’s attacks, and eventually grabbing his sword. Though trying to use her powers, Takeshi reveals that her powers have no affect on it. So she trips him over and jumps all the way up to the top of a crane. Takeshi throws his light darts as well as his sheath to pin her down and slashes her from behind, causing Matsuri to fall all the way to the ground. Remembering his promise, Takeshi raises his sword ready to give the final blow, but is stopped by Mayuko who arrives just in time. Despite Takeshi’s desire to return her to normal, Mayuko doesn’t want to do it at the expense of another. Takeshi is frustrated at this as he knows Mayuko is sacrificing her wish, but Mayuko hugs Takeshi and tells him it’s okay. She remembers all the times they spent together and she explains that her wish was for him to be by her side, the unchanged gentle Takeshi. Meanwhile, Yorito is finally awake looking at out the window.

Impressions

Matsuri is one tough girl to be able to go through two battles in one night, and still being injured from Yorito’s stabbing. The fight scenes were awesome especially Aono’s attacks as they were co-ordinated rather well. Although Aono is portrayed as the bad guy here, it’s nice to know that she didn’t finish Matsuri off and that she realises what Matsuri has done for her in the past. Though whether she’ll regret not finishing Matsuri off we’re yet to see. In the end I think the two will make up but there’ll probably be some sort of twist at the end.

The fight scene with Takeshi was pretty good as well, and we also got the reason why Takeshi is determined to kill Matsuri. His promise to return Mayuko to normal again and the reason behind killing Matsuri is still a bit blurred here. Why does he need to kill Matsuri in order to make her human again? I still think we’ve yet to see the answer to this and it may be the key to turn either Aono or Matsuri into a human again. The background music played during Mayuko’s flashback was really nice and is the same song from the first episode (Binkan na Fuukei by Ceui) and is a part of the ED single. Although with the flashback with Mayuko’s and Takeshi’s back story, it feels like their role in the story has come to an end, but they could still play a role later on as they continue with the Aono side of things.

Poor Koyori. Being a friend of Aono she doesn’t have the slightest clue of what’s happening and why Mana lied to Aono. She is a minor character but I think she’ll come to know what’s going on later as well. Anyway, now with Matsuri alive and the Mayuko and Takeshi story is finished, I do wonder how this will play out. I look forward to next week’s episode.
