Several years ago, a young Takeshi sees a scene of seeing a girl that resembles Mayuko lying in a pool of her own blood. Today, as he stands outside Yorito’s house, he still remembers that scene. Meanwhile, Yorito and Matsuri are the convenience store where Matsuri buys a lot of her favourite drink, the tomato drink. Sitting outside, Matsuri wonders what teh sky looks like from there, but Yorito goes to tell her of better spots to see from. Elsewhere, Takeshi finds mayuko inside a garbage can, so he takes her to the church so she can eat onigiri. Whilst eating, she questions him about tomorrow and tells him to take her along, but he refuses and then notices it’s starting to rain.

The next day, Matsuri asks Yorito if he likes the rain, but he answers that he doesn’t since the clouds block the sky. However Matsuri can go outside when it’s raining so she takes Yorito with him. Taking him to a house and rings the doorbell, but runs off with Yorito chasing after her. Though because he left the umbrella behind, the two share Matsuri’s umbrella. They then make there way to the vending machine where they first met and Matsuri reveals that she thought Yorito was weird, but Yorito says that is his line. Matsuri then wants to take a rowboat and gets on it first and rows it even though guys are supposed to do it. The two sit under the umbrella together and admire the underside of the umbrella imagining it to be a real sky. Yorito then promises to show Matsuri a real sky one day.
With the weather clearing up, Koyori pays a visit to Aono. She wants to learn more origami from Aono but Aono has a special request of her. back at Yorito’s house, he finds that Matsuri has laid out the clothes Mana gave her throughout the living room. After Yorito leaves to see Aono, Matsuri hears something inside the house. Thinking it’s Yorito, it’s actually Koyori but Matsuri’s voice surprises her and she falls down the stairs, but Matsuri manages to catch her and the two get acquainted. Over at the hospital, Aono is staring at the ripped doll, but as Yorito walks in, she hides it under her pillow. Back home, as Koyori leaves, Matsuri walks into the living room to find Takeshi.
He immediately starts attacking her with his light darts and ripping the curtains down and letting sunlight in. After being singed a few times, she manages to make her way upstairs to hide. However Takeshi manages to bring her out and throws a light dart at her, but Matsuri uses her powers to defend herself. Instead, Takeshi throws several at her, forcing Matsuri into Yorito’s room. Lying on the ground, Takeshi draws his sword readying to strike, but Matsuri sees the sky covered ceiling which causes her to stop Takeshi and she uses her powers on his wrists. Though Takeshi’s screaming is enough to make her conscious again and she escapes through the balcony.
Yorito arrives home to see the mess inside and rushes out to find Matsuri. Matsuri manages to stay out of the sunlight by heading intot he forest, but Takeshi manages to track her. With Matsuri leaning weakly against a tree, he questions her of why she didn’t kill him. Raising his sword, he says that her life is necessary for him and then strikes. But Yorito manages to save Matsuri in time, resulting in his back being slashed. He refuses to move as he promised Matsuri to show her the sky, and this triggers a flashback in Takeshi and because he hears someone approaching, which happens to be Mana, he retreats for now. As it starts to rain, Matsuri asks if Yorito likes the rain, and he tells her he’s starting to like it before she passes out.
Meanwhile at the hospital, Koyori brings what Aono requested, which happens to be a sewing kit. Koyori asks why she wants to keep it a secret from Yorito, Aono tells her that the doll is precious to her. Koyori then starts talking about getting Matsuri’s help, but this news leaves Aono in shock.
Impressions
Well the pacing is definitely different to last week’s episode and it appears we are back on track with the storyline. A lot things happened in this episode which opens to more questions especially in relation to Takeshi and Mayuko. Seeing the glimpses of their past shows that the two might have gone through the same situation that Yorito and Matsuri are in but it also shows that Mayuko was once human since she was bleeding red blood. Takeshi is probably a childhood friend who has probably protected her over the years but there is still the question of why he is after Matsuri and what exactly Mayuko is. If Mayuko and Matsuri are the same, I do hope that they’ll explain why they need Matsuri.
Matsuri went out of control was a bit of a surprise. This still raises the question of what she is, and because of this, is this her reason of why she thinks Yorito will hate her eventually? Obviously Matsuri didn’t intend to use her powers on Takeshi, but she can see herself as a danger to others around her. though with Yorito making his promise with Matsuri, once he finds the truth about Matsuri, I wonder how he will take it. Also the whole thing about the sky is getting a bit dry and exaggerated. It’s no Air TV but this is a story written by an ex-Key staff member, so I do hope the whole concept of the sky will redeem itself once we find out more about Matsuri.
Well Koyori has finally met Matsuri, but she is still polite as ever even in front of a complete stranger, but more importantly is that Aono now knows about Matsuri’s presence. I can already imagine the attitude that sh’ll be giving Yorito the next time she sees him but I also hope that her role in the story will become more clear now that she knows about Matsuri.
Oh Matsuri was just pure awesome this whole episode. Ponytails FTW plus seeing her in some different clothes is a nice change so hopefully we’ll see more wardrobe changes in the future episodes. One thing in anime that always irks me is that the characters always wear the same casual clothing. Also I can’t stress enough the Noto Mamiko does an awesome job as Matsuri and I think it’s her best work to date. I would definitely have to say this is my #1 favourite series for the Spring season as I’m always looking forward to the next episode.
Also loli in a can is LOL.
