Moé Moé Rabu

With Nagasumi and his parents accepting the marriage, Nagasumi’s grandmother suggest that he take San out on a date to the local bon dance festival by giving him some money. When he meets up with San, he offers to pay for her food but she refuses. However all her portions are quite large, but Nagasumi’s are small and odd, even with a gun disguised as a chocolate banana. It is then that Nagasumi learns that the whole festival is run by her father and the yakuza. Determined not to ruin the date, he continues despite knowing San’s father wants him dead.

San wants to play kingyo sukui (the fishing for fish with a paper paddle) and shows that she is an expert at it. Nagasumi is shown to a different booth that contains a shark, which ends up attacking him. He manages to throw it away, but San’s legs have changed due to water splashing from the attack. So covering her fin, he picks her and takes her away. Meanwhile San’s parents are walking by and happen to see the two, mistaking them for making out, but son realise Nagasumi is only drying San’s legs. It’s at this point San realises what has been happening and she wants her father to apologise, but he won’t give in and stomps off. So San and Nagasumi return to the festival.

With Nagasumi knowing San’s condition of transforming, she manages to get into situations where she gets wet and says that she tends to be a bit clumsy. Nagasumi saved her from one mishap but grabbed her breast by accident, resulting in San using her high pitched mermaid voice on Nagasumi. Afterwards, Nagasumi spots a glass store and ends up buying San a ring as a present, which makes her very happy. With San participating in the Bon Dance, Nagasumi is taught by Masa which makes San upset and she runs off. Nagasumi chases after her and tell her it’s a misunderstanding, but then San realises that the ring on her finger is missing and wants to search for it. Nagasumi thinks it’s not a big deal but San says that it’s important to her just like the marriage, which makes Nagasumi realise how much San is trying to make this marriage work and so helps her look for it.

After looking, San’s mother comes by and shows them the ring, telling the two that San’s father found it. Pleased to find it, San’s mother even tells them that San’s father proposed to her in the kimono that San is wearing. This causes him to be embarassed and throws the ring away, landing on Masa’s finger. Seeing Nagasumi’s reaction she gets jealous and blasts him with her mermaid voice, although visiting Heaven for a brief moment, he returns but is bandaged up.

Impressions

Ugh, I wrote more than I thought for the write up. Anyway, I decided to blog Seto no Hanayome as after watching this episode I’m beginning to like it. There is plenty of funny moments throughout the episode, like the first kiss part and San getting large portions as well as her constantly getting wet. Though some of the jokes do get a bit repetitive I do hope they don’t continue too much of it throughout the series. Well so far this episode makes me a bit more interested in the characters and shows that Nagasumi isn’t a hopeless twit and that San’s father (sorry, keep forgetting the name and too lazy to look up atm) has a kind side to him than just the angry over-protective father.

San we can see that she really is trying to make the marriage between her Nagasumi work and that she is serious about it unlike Nagasumi he thinks it’s just for show. Though the premise of a boy having to marry a mermaid is pretty funny on it’s own, but I’m sure they’ll be seeing other obstacles as the series goes on as well when they start introducing more characters. Looks like next episode we’ll be seeing a new character and San and Nagasumi are at the beach. Even as i said I’ll continue blogging this, since it appears not many people are, I’m not sure if I’ll watch it raw, but I’ll give it a shot.

Also to note, I hate typing in Nagasumi’s name, so long~~
