With Yorito walking in, the mysterious man is distracted long enough for Matsuri to grab a candle holder and throw it through a window in order to escape. The mysterious man runs out and finds her just outside. Matsuri then causes the scaffolding to rust and collapse, but the man dodges in time allowing Matsuri to hide in the bushes. The man grabs a pole and throws it at her, but Matsuri jumps in the air and counters his attack, but causing her to fall to the forest below. Yorito rushes to find her but is stopped by the man, telling him that she isn’t human, but a monster of the night. Despite this, Yorito goes and searches for Matsuri anyway. The man was about to give chase until Mayuko, the girl he is looking after, appears, and he hides his sword away.
Yorito finds Matsuri lying in the cemetery unconscious, so he decides to take her home. He notices that her hand has a gray spot, and when he touches it, ash starts falling off. Matsuri wakes up to see Yorito only to fall back to sleep. The next morning, Yorito is thinking about what the man had said, but walks downstairs to find Matsuri looking at the photos of clouds. Matsuri wants to thank him so she pats his head, but then decides to also cook for him. But with that failing, they ended up talking with Yorito talking about himself. Yorito wants to know about her, so she turns off the light and stands near the curtain. She Moves her finger into the light and Yorito sees particles falling from her finger and how she is in pain. She tells him that she isn’t human and is a Yaka - a being that is like an undead monster that doesn’t age.
Having lived for hundreds of years, she has never stood under an azure sky. Yorito then thinks that it’s best that she stay with him, but Matsuri thinks that Yorito will learn to hate her. But they are shortly interrupted by a phone call from Mana, telling him that Aono wants to come home. So Yorito tells Matsuri to wait for him and leaves for the hospital. Upon arriving there, he apologises to Aono but she is happy to see him and tells him that she is hungry. Upon returning home, he notices all the lights are turned off, so Yorito rushes inside and sees that she wrote “bye bye” on the hanging picture. Just as he was about to rush out, he hears something from his room and goes to investigate, but he finds Matsuri lying on his bed looking at the collaboration of pictures of the sky on the ceiling. She gets him to lie next to her and asks if this is what the sky is like. Yorito tells her that the real thing is much better and beautiful, and Matsuri gets the feeling she is floating in the sky. Yorito tells her that he promises to show her the real sky one day.
Impressions
Definitely enjoyed this episode as much as the first and I am definitely hooked on this series. Though that is probably because I find Matsuri adorable. Well a rather well played episode with the continuation of Matsuri being chased by the mysterious man, but then it slows down to show some character development, but mainly on Matsuri. Matsuri so far is a very interesting character mainly because she is the main girl, but also because of what she is. Although being called an undead monster that doesn’t age is very similar to a vampire, but she doesn’t have the urge to suck blood. I really do look forward to seeing a bit more of her past and more explanation on who and what she really is. The “ecchi” scene actually made me laugh as it’s something you see in most animes, but it sort of gives the feeling that this is almost like a normal anime, despite what happened before this scene. Also with Noto Mamiko voicing Matsuri, I can hear the Ana Coppola voice distinctively, but also probably because I also watched the Ichigo Mashimarrow OVA before this, lol.
Yorito doesn’t seem to have changed much, except for his heightened interest in Matsuri. Though knowing his fetish about the sky to the extent where he covers his ceiling with large print pictures of the sky is a little eerie, but I think some people think the same when they see my room. Somehow I can’t see his character changing much anytime soon. However his fascination with the sky is understandable to an extent. Yesterday I happened to be looking at the sky wanting to take photos since I was a passenger in a car for once. Aono I have some mixed feelings about at the moment. Her attachment to her brother looks to be rather deep, but she also appears to be pretty selfish. Being able to call for her brother to come see her and tell him that she is hungry shows that selfishness, though with her sitting in the hospital all day making origami cranes and only with Koyori, I can see why.
Mayuko is an interesting character so far as well. Judging from how the man (don’t know his name yet) hide his sword from her, and that she only appears when it is dark, gives me the impression that she is similar to Matsuri. What her goal is I don’t know, probably to find others like them, but what of the man with the sword? He’s not going to pull a “Let’s go, together” on us later in the series is he? (Oh god I hope not). Well in good time we’ll see what their goals are.
This week we also see the actual opening sequence and I must say I love it (again because of Matsuri). The opening theme seems rather different but I’m liking it very much, though I somehow still prefer the subtle theme that we heard last week. The background music is definitely nice to hear and they match well with the scenes. Now that Matsuri is probably going to stay with Yorito, I’m not sure where they’ll be heading with the story. But one thing for sure, I look forward to the next episode.
Note: I’m also slightly getting better at ranting, lol.

The thing that draws me about Sola beside the mysterious premise thusfar is the chmemistry between Matsuri and Yorito. They are both fascinated with each other for different reasons. My guess is Mayuko has the same condition as Matsuri and sword-dude is trying to kill Matsuri for her sake.
Hairclip childhood fren and her cute lil sister got sidelined this ep though.
That fascination between the two is because the two are soraphiles, lol. Mayuko may be the same as Matsuri, but the scene of mystery man hiding his sword when she arrived is the odd factor. Killing Matsuri for Mayuko’s sake doesn’t seem to fit in right now at this point but there must be a good reason why the two are after her. Whether they have the same goal or not is what interests me.
Yes such a shame that Mana and Koyori didn’t get much screentime this episode.
