Hayate wakes up in Nagi’s mansion thinking that he has passed away and goes exploring thinking it’s heaven. Though after encountering Maria in the bath, and fainting from blood loss, he wakes up again to find Maria next to him telling him he was asleep the whole time. Asking for an explanation about the debt notice and what happened in the park, Hayate explains everything. Nagi comes in, happy to see him awake and offers the job as a butler, which he accepts immediately.

Maria reports to the head butler, Klaus, but he doesn’t want Hayate as a butler and tells Maria to kick him out. Though Hayate is already dressed and ready to work, so she gets him to do some cleaning, which to her surprise which is perfect. Hayate last discovers a study with Nagi’s notebook. Inside it was Nagi’s manga but she walks in and catches him. He apologises for reading her picture diary but this causes Nagi to get mad and tells him to get out. He takes this literally and leaves the mansion only to be picked up by the loansharks.
Nagi learns about Hayate leaving as well as his debt from Maria and goes out to save him, but wears a mask to disguise herself as Mask the Money. She ends up saving Hayate by paying the debt for him, but she calls it a present for Hayate. Though Hayate insists that he will work to pay it off and mistakenly citing that she came to save with with a strange mask. This makes her mad and she changes her mind telling him he will work to pay the money back. Although arguing, snow starts falling from the sky.
Impressions
This week’s episode is more funnier than last week and is definitely becoming one of the funniest shows this season. The addition of the characters knowing that an audience is watching makes it that much more funnier (I forget what the term is called) and it was really amusing to see they tried to end the show twice. The beeping out of the word Gundam was funny as well, but with the added censoring in parts of the episode makes this show that much more funnier. Although I do find it annoying at times. I picked up three references this episode, the Conan, Black Lagoon, and One Piece one. Makes me wonder how many more we are going to see throughout the series.
Maria was just awesome this episode and with Tanaka Rie being the seiyuu, she did a wonderful job in all the scenes she appeared in and she fits the character really well. Nagi this week we get to see her tsundere side, but I think the deredere side is much better especially when she starts fantasizing about Hayate kissing her. Though Maria’s comment about Nagi and Hayate being air heads. Hayate only has work on his mind whilst Nagi has Hayate on her mind and the two seems to never be in sync. I really can’t wait till the other characters are introduced. Next week we see Hayate being tested with a tiger and a robot.
