A man called Louise is running from the police until he is finally cornered. However he uses his powers to throw a police officer away before flying away, thus the police realise he is a contractor. Louise finally getting away, he is soon discovered by a masked figure, which Louise calls a Doll. The Doll forces him into submission asking him about some stolen goods. Louise tells him that a woman has it, so the Doll, who is called Hei, contacts his partner Yin, before killing Louise his other partner’s objection.
The police are now investigating the murder of Louise and are now searching for a woman called Shinoda Chiaki. Elsewhere, we see a boy, called Li Sheng Shun who makes his way to his new apartment. Being shown to his room he sees his neighbour called Haraguchi, but she simply bows and walks off. What we see is that Haraguchi works as a hostess and happens to be serving two of the police officers in the investigation of Shinoda Chiaki. As Chiaki leaves, the two officers give chase on her. She eventually comes to a park where she finds Li stargazing. He sees that she is being chased and helps her out by hiding her. After thanking him, she takes her leave.
Still being chased, Chiaki is eventually found by a partner called Jean. But as he tries to take her away, Li smacks him in the head and takes Chiaki with him. However Jean catches up and knocks Li off a bridge. When Chiaki wakes up, she finds Jean and two other men. Jean questions her about the goods and informs her that Louise is dead. She runs to the door but finds it locked, however a power surge causes the door to open and she runs out. The men give chase, but a black cat jumps in front of them and they lose site of her. Chiaki still running, eventually runs into Li and falls into his arms.

Impressions
Right from the start this was looking to be a very good show, and after finishing the first episode, I’m liking it very much. The episode starts off fast-paced with some action but slows down during the middle, but slightly picks up again. So far not much is known about Li and Chiaki but I must say it was a good way to start off the series as I’m drawn into wanting more. Being a new BONES work, the animation was done well especially in a lot of the darker tones and shadowing and I can see that it’ll stay like that throughout the series.
The music I didn’t listen to much but checking the ANN page it says the music is done by Yoko Kanno, so I guess I’ll have to watching it again. The opening theme I find ok, but the ending theme I like the most. Though that is probably due to being a Rie fu song and most of her songs turn out really well, and the ending sequence with flowers go well with her songs.
So far it appears we have 4 main people in a group, that being Hei, Yin, the cat and the guy with the cigarette. The others such as Chiaki and Jean might appear to be one off characters which will probably disappear soon enough, but the police officers may stick around for a while. So far none of the characters seem that interesting but that will probably change once we get to know the 4 main characters.
Quite an enjoyable watch and it appears to have taken Code Geass’s timeslot, so chances of this being good are good. I’ll continue to watch this but I’ll hold off and see if I want to blog it.
