El Cazador de la Bruja - 01

Opening Sequence:

OP: 「Hikari no Yukue」 by savage genius

Nadi is in search of a blonde girl called Ellis and finds her in a small Mexican town. However when Nadi finds her, it appears other want Ellis as well, but Nadi ends up fending them off but getting slightly hurt in the process. After getting away from the pursuers, Ellis happens to runaway from Nadi by jumping over a high fence with ease.

Nadi then decides to goto the place that Ellis is staying at and talks to the old lady there. There she finds that the old lady has been living with Ellis since she helped her on the street, and the old lady also tells Nadi her fortune. However, Nadi notices that there are some suspicious men outside and leaves to find Ellis and take her away. Having gotten away, Nadi introduces herself to Ellis but eventually they hear an explosion coming from the old lady’s house.

Upon arriving, they find that it was the two men from earlier. Nadi manages to get rid of one, but the other still remains, until Ellis uses some power to make the man’s gun hot making him drop it and it fires due to the heat, and a piece of shrapnel hits him in the face. Going in to check the old lady, there happens to be a mysterious figure who happened to film what just happened. Before the old lady dies, she gives Ellis a red rock. So Nadi decides to help Ellis find out more about her past.

Impressions

Seriously this was just oozing out Noir and Madlax elements. Personally I haven’t watched Madlax but I’ll use Noir as an example. First a gun wielding chick who is a bounty hunter, check. A mysterious quiet girl who has some unique ability, check. Some secret organisation that is after the mysterious quiet girl, check. Heck even the soundtrack is done Kajiura Yuki, who also did the music for both Noir and Madlax. Heck majority of the staff and cast are exactly the same from Noir and Madlax, so really, I’m not too impressed by this series as it pretty much is another Noir and Madlax.

The opening I didn’t find that great either especially for a savage genius song as it feels a bit toned down, the same applies for the ending, but I like the ending more than the opening so far. I find the ending sequence much better than the opening as well. But seeing a cat looking down a sniper telescope is just win.

Character wise the only one I like so far is Nadi. I very much like her but she isn’t exactly cute, or sexy, but more of an inbetween the two. Also the large shiny eyes reminds me of Simoun slightly, but Simoun was more prettier. Overall I think El Cazador fails pretty hard since it’s just another version of Noir and Madlax. Now don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed Noir very much, except for the same repeating soundtrack, and I don’t see El Cazador being much better. So I definitely won’t beblogging this and most likely not watch anymore episodes.

lol, right from the start I had a feeling this would just be a Noir remix. I might grab the ED song sometime, FictionJunction Yuuka can’t be too bad

i think it isn’t bad that it is “just a noir remix”…the protagonists are looking like chloe (noir) and margaret (madlax) in ultra cute version ^^

i will watch the series :P
