Hayate no Gotoku - 05

Hayate is getting Nagi ready for school, but instead she goes back to sleep. As the phone rings, Nagi pretends to be an answering machine and hangs up. But then someone comes crashing through the window and acts like they are a welcomed guest requesting tea, so Nagi pours it over her head. Maria explains that this girl is Aizawa Sakuya, a childhood friend and a relative of Nagi’s. She came over to see the new butler, Hayate, but she finds him more amusing than an actual butler.

Little Busters! Promo OP

Key/Visual Arts has released a promo video of their latest work, Little Busters! The theme song itself is called “Little Busters!” and is performed by Rita. It is quite catchy and I’m liking it very much just like “Megemeru” (the Clannad opening theme) but this promo OP also runs for 3 minutes and 30 seconds so plenty of CG scenes to look at.

Little Busters! is set for a 27th July release and I’m looking forward to seeing this coming out. Though whether I have time to play it is a different matter. Thanks to the guys over at VisualNews for the link.

sola - 04

Koyori’s classmates drop by to see her and she tells them that she isn’t lonely since her sister visits her and she has someone to play with here, but she is hesitant to call Aono her friend. Back at home, Yorito sees Matsuri looking at the doll he bought which she thinks is cute. Mana drops by to pick up Yorito but also leaves some clothes for Matsuri. After class, Yorito and Mana visit the shop that Yorito buys the dolls from since Mana finds the other one not so cute. Mana thinks that Yorito should stop buying them since Aono doesn’t seem to like them, but Yorito says that they will stay by her side until the day she leaves the hospital.

ADV licenses Air TV and Movie

ADV Films has announced that they have acquired the license for both Air TV and the Movie, and I must say, I am quite happy about it. From the sources I have read they are slated for an August release with the TV series being a 4 DVD set and that each DVD will be released monthly rather than every two months like most DVD releases. The Movie will be released sometime at the end of the year.

However I do see a few downsides to this news as Air is one of my most favourite series, but ADV being the licensor is one major turn off. Air as a series was good, but the fan base is indeed small and ADV in the past haven’t exactly been quality products. But then again I haven’t really bought many US anime DVD releases since I mainly get the R2 Japanese DVDs. Although this would indeed appease the fans, but for this to go well in the western market I do feel that it won’t turn out so well. With a DVD being released monthly the quality will be questionable, but then the original R2 release wasn’t that of a quality release either. However I’m not knowledgeable about the US anime market so I may be proved wrong in this sense, but still, I did wish that Funimation would have picked up the license.

Either way I am delighted by the news. Despite already having the entire R2 TV collection as well as the Special and Collector’s Edition of the Movie, I would probably be importing this as well to add to my ever growing collection of Key merchandise. Though i must say, ADV must have paid quite a bit to Key to acquire this license, so perhaps we may see a license of Kanon and possibly Clannad (once it’s completed) in the near future. Hopefully with the release of Air into the US market, we may hopefully see a fan translation of the Air game yet, but I really doubt that.

Manabi Straight! - 09

In March 2005, the current principal of Seiou had entered the school’s dormitory and remembers how she was greeted by everyone. In the present she is standing staring at the old building until Shimojima arrives. She tells him of how she led the resistance against closing the dormitory but was unsuccessful. Shimojima asked her if it was all futile. Meanwhile the girls are trying to get students to sign the petition but it hasn’t been going well. As the days go by the girls are starting to break apart and Mikan begins to wonder if they’ll revert to just being herself and Manabi in the Student Council.

The next day, a broadcast of Aikou’s anthem, Fly to Future, is interrupted by Momo disguising herself in her biohazard suit. She broadcasts a video compilation of the Student Council and all the activities they have been doing since Manabi arrived as well as personal interviews with the background music of Manabi singing the Seiou anthem. However Momo’s broadcast was cut short as the teachers finally stopped her just as Mikan was about to finish her introduction and this causes Mikan to cry saying she doesn’t want everyone to separate. Mei and Mutsuki are moved by the video and rush to the Student Council. With the girls together, they decide to go ahead and do what they can for the school festival.

The next day, the girls continue to try and get petitions with the principal watching from her office with Shimojima. She then tells Shimojima that even though she couldn’t change anything back then she thought her efforts weren’t for all nothing. Turning back to the girls, we see 3 girls approach the group wanting to sign the petition.

Manabi Straight! - 08

Having heard the news about the cancellation of the School Festival, the girls try to come up with ideas on how to convince the student body on wanting the school festival to continue. They eventually come up with the idea for a petition but upon launching the campaign, the students of Seioh aren’t interested in reviving the school festival. One night when Manabi returns home, she meets her brother’s girlfriend, Kyouko, but finds out she happens to be the Director of Aikou Academy and it was her decision to cancel the festival. So Manabi decides to stay at Mikan’s house for the night. The next day Manabi visits Kyouko about the cancellation and Kyouko thinks that only the Student Council wants to continue the festival. But Manabi doesn’t want to give up so Kyouko proposes the idea that if they can gather 70% of the student’s petition, then the festival won’t be canceled.
