Nodame Cantabile - 10

With the school festival coming up, Mine proposes S-Orchestra do a costume performance. Meanwhile, Chiaki is practicing the Rachmaninoff piece that he was assigned, but Stresemann feels that Chiaki isn’t playing beautifully enough and that he should show off more.

During the school festival, Chiaki goes to watch S-Orchestra’s performance of Rhapsody in Blue and is amazed by how cool they look, in which he finally understands what Stresemann was trying to tell him before. When it’s time for Stresemann and Chiaki’s performance, Strsemann informs Chiaki that he will be saying farewell to Japan for a while, before they head out.

Impressions

By far this has to be the best episode as I was really waiting to see this. We finally get to see S-Orchestra’s performance of Rhapsody in Blue and Nodame in her mongoose costume. I was quite surprised that the performance went for around 4 minutes, but it doesn’t detract from the storyline. The animation of the performance again mostly composed of still panning shots except for Nodame’s playing, but the upbeat jazz feel to the performance made up for this. Though I did wish they at least animate Nodame walking around the stage at least.

Despite the great performance of S-Orchestra, we see some development between the characters. Saiko sees that Chiaki is growing further and further away from him, but we’re also seeing signs of the same with Nodame. Even though it is becuase of their schedules, but this is like a prelude to Nodame’s story coming up. Also now we have the music critics who have come to watch Stresemann and Chiaki’s performance, but I do hope we’ll see the same funny character as the one from the live drama.

With Stresemann leaving Japan soon, the next performance should be awesome as well and it’ll be a significant matter to both Chiaki and Nodame.

Note: You may notice that I did a very short summary of the episode. Well I’ve decided to stop writing a proper summary, most of you probably don’t read it anyway, so from now I’ll either do no summary or a very short one, with the exception of Kanon 24 since that is ending.

    Wot?! ;________;
    But I like your summaries! They’re concise and understandable, and help me greatly since I only have access to the un-subbed anime (my Japanese skills are extremely poor).
    Ah well. Everything good must come to an end at some point. At least you still write a brief summary. Thanks! ^___^
