Race Preparation

Tonight is PGA’s Drag Night down at WSID (Western Sydney International Dragway) and I’ll be entering with the Pulsar. The past few days I’ve spent preparing the car to be in top condition, firstly was the oxygen sensor, and then there was the scheduled service. Yesterday I was able to acquire a motorbike helmet from a good friend of mine from high school and today is simply getting the car cleaned and putting it on a diet. I’ve removed all excess items from the car like the spare tyre, jack, everything in the glove box, mats, etc all in an attempt to lose the weight. All that is left is to adjust the tyre pressure but that’ll happen before I arrive at the venue.

This is the first time drag racing for me. Excited as hell lately I’ve been paying extra attention to the way I shift gears in the car so hopefully I can do well. Really not too sure on what times to expect but I’m aiming for around 16 seconds for the 1/4 mile, and with 92.3 kW at the wheels (that’s what the dyno sheet says) hopefully it’ll happen. I was hoping to get the pod filter onto the car but this might be a good chance to compare as I might go again another day.

So wish me luck and hopefully I’ll get pictures as I’m taking my camera as well and will be taking photos when I’m not lining up to drag. As Nayuki would say “Fighto dayo!”
