With only a mere 3-4 weeks till the end of the Winter Season, it would be a good time to see what new series will be coming out and what I will be watching/blogging. Thanks to pKjd from moetron for compiling a list of shows to be released, it looks to be slated for 50 new shows, but keep in mind minus the ones that are OVAs, movies, and kiddie shows it’s actually less than that. So onto the list!

Appears that a lot of people are interested in seeing this. All I know is that it has a fighting butler and a loli master, so I’ll give it a go.

The front page shows a woman with a sword, but the title header has a picture of a mermaid. Right no idea what it’s about but the artstyle looks good and has perked my interest.

I saw news about this turning into an anime at the VisualNews forums and I have seen the novels on the shelves of Kinokuniya. The artwork cover for the novels look amazing and with this being a music based anime, it might be something I’ll enjoy, though I don’t expect something like Nodame Cantabile.

So Gonzo’s version of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is something my friend Shiori from JAUWS is looking forward to. There are very few Shakespeare plays that I enjoyed but luckily Romeo and Juliet is one of them. Although I have never seen Gankutsou, I hear it was good, so lets hope Gonzo can make this a good one.

Based on the manga series by Koge Donbo, the characters look very similar to Pita-Ten, and I enjoyed Pita-Ten VERY MUCH. I’ve seen the manga on the shelves of Kinokuniya but held off from buying them. So a definite watch for me.

A cute looking romance series where the animation style looks very familiar, yet I can’t put my finger on it.

Again no idea what this is. Something to do with the sky.

KyoAni’s new work after Kanon. Based on a 4koma manga I don’t know how this will work out, unless they try for something similar to Azumanga Daioh. Although being a cutesy anime, I don’t think we’ll see some of the awesome animation effects and cinemaphotography like we did in Kanon. But this is KyoAni, they might surprise me.

So far with a lack of dark themed anime, this looks really cool. Produced by Geneon, this maybe the next Ergo Proxy, but with more action.

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS
Having enjoyed the first two series I was damn happy to hear of a third Nanoha series coming. However this one is with the characters grown up and with some new characters. So will this be as brilliant as the first two series? Well I certainly hope so especially with all the hype that has been going on since it’s announcement.

With artwork based off Tony Taka, I remember seeing one of his art galleries in Akihabara. Truly some beautiful artwork but no idea how they will play this one out.

Based on the popular PS2 game, I’m sure there’ll be plenty of good action scenes in this one. Never have played the game so I don’t know the general storyline to it.

A non-ero game created by a collaboration of Brocolli and Circus I played the demo and absolutely loved it. Not to mention that Circus is one of my favourite Japanese ero game producers this is something I definitely want to watch.

Wangan Midnight
Although with the Spring season coming close, there is no website or any information regarding this series. Simply to say this is a car racing anime where people race along the Tokyo Highway. Based on the manga Wangan Midnight and with an arcade game created by Namco, this is something I’m definitely wanting to watch. Despite the crappy drawing style of the manga, just like Initial D, I will definitely be blogging this.

Quite a number of other series I have considered but not included I may or may not blog about. So I’ll wait out till the season starts to determine what to blog/watch. With the Winter Season, I see that my limit is about 4 series, so I may again change writing style again.
EDIT: Just of note, I don’t know the basis story of some of the series I listed here as I prefer to randomly pick series and see if I like them or not (you’d be surprise that this works wonders when stuck on something to watch). If you want more details on some of the series I suggests you try looking at some other blogs.

Of those, I will be anticipating watching or reading your posts on the following:
DMC (zomg)
StrikerS (fap!)
Wangan (just because I know how much you’ll like it)
Gankutsuou was good because of the eye rape. Not that the character design was bad just…. backgrounds made eye rape. For a series I didn’t watch much of, I didn’t mind it. SO, let’s see how Romeo X Juliet turns out.
Seto no Hanayome has a guy marrying a mermaid- I read the first volume of the manga a while back. The anime designs look nice but erm, I’m not sure the content is my kind of thing, lol (hence why I stopped at manga volume one).
Lovely Complex should be shiny- the manga is a lot of fun, genuinely laugh out loud which is a hard sell when it comes to shoujo manga. I adore how vibrant the anime designs look (same character designer as Kamisama Kazoku- maybe that’s why?)
Kamichama Karin is very cute. I think if you’ve enjoyed Koge Donbo’s previous works you’ll enjoy this one (it’s been very popular in Nakayoshi).
I’m a whore for Romeo x Juliet ;_; curse you for having hot male side characters, Gonzo! CURSE YOU!!
Hahahaha, how did I pick that you’d be watching sum Nanoha this season? XD
LOL. Skull Man = Next Ergo Proxy?
Skull Man is a dark tokusatsu anime. Tokusatsu as in those HENSHIN KAMEN RIDER!!!!! flicks, only difference is that it’s animated this time as opposed to stuntmen in costumes.
khardic_paladin: Well I’ll totally be full on about Wangan, regardless of it being crap or not. As for DMC, not sure if I’ll blog it, Nothing more to say on Nanoha.
Shiori: Thanks for the descriptions on the series that I don’t know about. I’m usually too lazy to do research about them. And yes Nanoha is on the list, besides, you know my tastes in anime.
Nighty: That is simply from the impressions I get from looking only at the site and promo vids. I really have no idea what some of the series I listed are about. But thanks for the info.
I liked the first two volumes of the Seto no Hanayome manga that have been translated–the mermaid in question’s in a yakuza family, and when the male lead discovers her secret, she becomes engaged to him so that her parents won’t kill him (since outsiders who find out about mermaids have to die). She moves in with him and his parents and her family and their yakuza friends keep trying to kill him anyway…I’m probably easily amused, but the manga had me laughing out loud in a few spots, so if the anime is a good adaptation, this could be pretty good. Halko’s voicing San (the mermaid), which I’m not sure fits her character in the manga (when I think of Halko I think Komugi-chan) but I’m hoping this will be good.
I liked Pita Ten too, so definitely looking forward to Kamichama Karin, although I’ve read mixed reviews of the manga (haven’t read any of it myself).
After Haruhi & Kanon, Lucky Star is going to get some attention, although pacing is quite different with 4koma.
Hayate looks like a cute show. There’s some manga volumes out in English, but I haven’t read them yet. Probably worth blogging.
The new Nanoha has a lot to live up to…awaiting with bated breath…
lolz, the first two youve shown are both based on mangas i really love
I love pita-ten so much! and i can’t wait to watch Kamichama Karin. Maybe, i would watch Sola too, cuz after watching Air TV, i kinda like air/sky anime. Thx, for the information!
