Moé Moé Rabu

• Voice of a girl talks about dreams ending, whether they are pleasant or scary when your mother wakes you up. But she starts wondering when dreams started to never end.

• A young Yuuichi and a young Ayu share taiyaki together and make a pinky promise to meet again. Returning to Nayuki who calls him a liar.

• Makoto sneaks into Yuuichi’s room trying to drop a konnyaku on his face, but Yuuichi catches her in the act and makes her eat the konnyaku.

• Next morning Yuuichi takes a bento to Nayuki who is practicing with her track team in the school gymnasium. Arriving at the school, Yuuichi decides to watch Nayuki practice for a little while but then heads off bumping into Kaori on the way out.

• Yuuichi runs into Akiko shopping and helps her carry a bag of rice. Ayu comes up running from behind and falls over. Ayu and Akiko greet each other but Akiko is taken back a bit from hearing Ayu’s name, but says it is nothing. Ayu decides to help Yuuichi unpack his things so they all head to the Minase house.

• Upon entering the house, Ayu falls over but happens to spot Makoto hiding at the top of the stairs. Eventually she comes down and greets Ayu. The two girls help Yuuichi carry the boxes up, but Makoto is tired after carrying one box. So Yuuichi gets the other boxes whilst Ayu and Makoto open the rest, whilst also sharing taiyaki before working.

• After finish, Yuuichi and Ayu are downstairs having tea and cake and discuss about the lost item that Ayu is looking for. As Ayu is leaving, Makoto is looking out from the window, but Ayu spots her and waves goodbye, and Makoto waves back.

• Later that night, Nayuki returns from training and knocks on Yuuichi’s door asking about her notebook she lent him. Unfortunately Yuuichi left it at school but this is trouble for Nayuki as she needs to do her homework. Thus Yuuichi decides to go to the school and get her notebook.

• At the school, Yuuichi gets Nayuki’s notebook, but on the way out he finds Mai standing in the corridor holstering a sword.

Impressions

Well the pace has slowed down in this episode as all we really get is seeing Nayuki practice and Ayu goes over to Yuuichi’s place to help him unpack. So kind of like a slice of life kind of episode. Well it wasn’t that bad as I didn’t want KyoAni to move into Mai’s storyline too quickly. Also from this episode its nice to see the girls interact with each other unlike in Air where Kano’s arc finished and we never saw her again.

Being able to see some of the girls in activities, e.g Nayuki practicing, is also a nice touch as in the Toei version we didn’t see anything like that until the Kazahana special. And unlike last week’s episode, we finally see the more mischievous side of Makoto. So in terms of character development we are seeing quite a bit from Makoto.

Just as a side note, as Yuuichi is walking along to school to pick up Nayuki’s notebook, the starry sky (I didn’t take a screenshot but you can watch it when you watch the subs) kind of reminded me of Air with Minagi and the whole astronomy thing.

Next week is the Mai episode, hooray! But judging from the preview it seems that all the girls will get screen time, so how will KyoAni cope with having all the girls in one episode? Well we’ll find out next week.
