Yoake Mae Yori Ruri-iro Na ~Crescent Love~ - 01

OP: “Prelude - We are not alone” by Ootou Fumi

In the past the Earth and Moon were at war and we are shown one of the battles that occurred. With spaceships flying around, missiles fired towards the Moon and Earth and each side firing off their main cannons causing much destruction to both sides. We come to the present and see a space shuttle transporting a maid and a princess of the Moon. The maid, Mia, is excited about seeing Earth as so is the princess as she hasn’t been to Earth since she was a child. Down on Earth, Tatsuya is reading out from a textbook in class and then the chime goes off, signalling the end of classes. Packing up and ready to go, Tatsuya calls out to Natsuki but sees that she is asleep. Tatsuya tries to wake her up but Natsuki won’t wake up. So Tatsuya whispers in Natuski’s ear “Welcome” and this gets a reaction where Natuski blurts out a welcoming sentence. Realising where she is and seeing Tatsuya next to her, Natsuki’s face goes all red. Whilst walking along outside, Tatsuya and Natsuki come across a Tatsuya’s sister, Mai, playing the flute. Spotting the two, Mai comes over and asks if they are going to work. Tatsuya says good luck to Mai as she has joined the band and with that he pinches her nose. Surprised by it, Mai stops him and tells him that doing such a thing is embarrassing at school. Another girl joins the group, who happens to be Toyama Midori. Tatsuya asks why she is here where Natsuki says that she is part of the band and Mai says she is the clarinet leader of the band. But she doesn’t like a first year like Mai said about her playing the clarinet. Tatsuya and Natsuki then realise that they are running late and take their leave.

Arriving at their work, a restaurant named Trattoria Samon, Natuski heads on inside whilst Tatsuya heads home, which is right next door to the restaurant. Once inside, Tatsuya finds a letter from Sayaka saying that she has something important to say to Tatsuya and Mai before dinner. With the TV news on, Tatsuya sees Sayaka on TV surrounded by news reporters. Over at Trattoria Samon, Tatsuya and Natsuki are in uniform when we see two gentlemen, who are Takamizawa Samon, and Takamizawa Jin. Samon is Natsuki’s father while Jin is Natsuki’s brother. With that the restaurant is open and we see everyone working. Once the restaurant is closed, Samon tells Tatsuya to go home early, in which Tatsuya is reluctant to go, but does anyway. Walking through the front door, he is greeted by a maid, who also happens to be Mia. Surprised by this Tatsuya says that he has the wrong house and backs out the door. Sayaka comes out and welcomes Tatsuya home, but he then starts asking why there is a maid in the house. In the living room, we see Mai in the couch all spaced out. Tatsuya asks for an explanation, where Sayaka tells him that there is going to be a home stay, but Mia is only a servant of the person doing the home stay. The person doing the home stay is the Princess of the Moon.

Mai snaps back to reality knowing Tatsuya will be home soon, but she sees him on the couch in shock, knowing that he has heard the news. Mia takes this chance to introduce herself to the siblings (full name being Mia Clementis), and so does Tatsuya (surname being Asagiri. Wondering where the princess is, Mai says that she is outside looking at the moon. Heading to the porch, Sayaka calls for the princess to come inside, and at that Tatsuya meets the princess. Apologising for not introducing herself earlier, the princess addresses herself as Feena Fam Earthlight, and Tatsuya does so likewise. Feena starts walking over to head inside. As she was about to step inside with her shoes on, this catches the attention of Sayaka, Tatsuya and Mai, but Feena then stops and says that she studied the traditions of Earth, and the trio give a sigh of relief. Taking off her shoes and stepping inside, Feena accidentally steps on her dress and trips over. This makes everyone worried but Feena gets back up and says that she is fine. But then Tatsuya walks up to Feena and pinches her nose. This shocked Sayaka and Mai who grab Tatsuya and the both apologise. Mai starts worrying and thinks that the princess will have them beheaded. Tatsuya looks up and sees that princess isn’t too happy, and which he starts apologising. Feena asks for a reason of Tatsuya’s action in which Mai explains that he has always done that since they were children. Feena then says that there is nothing to worry about, thus the trio are thankful, but Feena taps her nose whispering to herself that he hasn’t changed.

Sitting down and having tea, the group discuss about Feena’s home stay and which she explains. But also Feena is to attend the same school as Tatsuya and Mai, where Feena is also in the same class as Tatsuya. At that time, Mia’s stomach rumbles indicating that she is hungry, in which she apologises. Tatsuya and Mai also say that they haven’t eaten either, and Feena was about to same something, but is too embarrassed to say. Thus the group head over to Trattoria to eat. On the way, they hear Jin and Natsuki arguing, Tatsuya, Sayaka and Mai pick up Feena and Mia just as Jin comes flying out through the window. As Jin gets up, he sees Feena and Mia, greets them and invites them inside. With everyone inside, the Takamizawa family introduce themselves to Feena and everyone sits down to eat. Natsuki comes around to serve drinks, which Tatsuya tells Natsuki that she is mean for not telling him about Feena’s arrival, but Natsuki says that she didn’t know either. Just as Jin was about to give a speech, he is interrupted by a voice, and the voice is coming from under Feena’s skirt in which an old man appears and starts taking photos. Getting his assistant to produce the photos, Tatsuya then asks him who he is. He is Takano Takashi a famous photographer. Feena apologises to Tatsuya about it all, but Tatsuya says it’s ok. But Feena then brings up that Tatsuya called Feena just by her name and asks him if he can call her by that from now on. So Tatsuya says that Feena can just call him by his name as well. With that, everyone toasts together and Tatsuya welcomes Feena to Earth. Outside in the sky, we see a small blonde girl floating in the air and then suddenly fly off.

Impressions

Never having the chance to play the game beforehand like I wanted, I am impressed by Yoake episode 1. The animation is better than I expected, well, at least it looks better than the pictures on the official website. The storyline is pretty straight forward, Feena is from the Moon to do a home stay and judging from the dialogue it looks like Feena has met Tatsuya when they were children, and of course Tatsuya probably doesn’t remember. But seeing how this is Feena focused, I do hope they have some sort of twist in the storyline, perhaps not something like Canvas 2 style, but at least something.

The OP has a very nice feel to it and of course it indicates that this is a love story type of series. The ED is sung by Feena’s seiyuu and so far I quite like her voice.

One thing I also like is that they did the chibi characters, just like August-Soft game. If I recall correctly, Hani Hani ~Operation Sanctuary~ didn’t have that and I quite enjoyed that series. So by far it has kept original to the game in terms of animation/visuals. As for story, well I can’t really say since I haven’t played the game. But I can say I will definetly keep blogging this.

Also I noticed that I wrote too much for this write up. God help me why can’t I write shorter summaries!
