Figure Review: Shigure Asa - Shuffle

The third figure that arrived earlier last week with the Arisu and Shana figure. This is also the 5th character of Shuffle meaning Asa is the last character.

Of course I started off getting the Lisianthus (Sia for short) and Kaede, then came along a Nerine (Rin for short) and Primula, so naturally I had to buy the Asa to make a complete set. Personally Asa isn’t my favourite character and I was sadden how they took the Asa route in the anime, but I don’t hate her. She’s a lovable character, and character she has! Always the cheerful type around everyone but deep down she just wants some love.

Produced by: Atelier-Sai
Scale: 1/8
Material: PVC
Release Date: August 2006
Price: ¥4500 JPY
Available: HLJ (in stock at time of posting)

Now most figures you can remove the skirt, but in this one the only thing removable is the scarf, which requires you to remove the head. So for you collarbone loving people out there.

And just for the heck of it, I’ve added a game CG of Asa in the maid uniform.

Now with the previous Atelier-Sai Shuffle figures, like the Sia and Kaede, I thought they were pretty good quality. But unfortunetly the quality went down hill as the figures got released and Asa is no exception. The build quality is good, but there are parts that are roughly especially around the frilly parts of the uniform. Asa’s hair is another part that is very rough and the colouring overall isn’t very smooth. To put it bluntly, with Asa’s hair, it seems like the paint for it was blobbed on.

The pose is a straight out simple one but at least there is no chance of this warping or bending like the Sia, Kaede and Rin. A small base, utilising the plug type, means that she doesn’t take up as much room and can be placed anywhere. But alas, I rate this figure a 4 out of 5, mainly because it was poorly made and it seems like Atelier-Sai constructed it in a rush. Not to mention that its rather glossy, but not as glossy as the Feena Fam Earthlight figure.

So now that my Shuffle collection of figures is complete, all that was left was a group photo. Voila!

I’d also like to point out that I photographed these in my front lawn in the afternoon. Good thing my neighbours weren’t around and that it is school holiday time as I was doing the commando style photographing, which still, isn’t easy. Also about 3-4 photos above I took without looking through the viewfinder and they turned out great.

Also speaking to a good old friend from high school and her mother, they are willing to let me borrow some toy furniture that they have from doll houses, so I may look into taking scenario type photos with some of the older figures. But I’ll have to wait and see how big they are and what type of furniture. I had a look around earlier today whilst shopping and found it quite difficult to find toy furniture, even Barbie type stuff. One store (a proper toy store) had some Barbie furniture but at a price of $20 AU and it didn’t look as good. Well here’s hoping for my friend’s and her mum’s toy furniture!

The face really isn’t too nice, is it. Super rats does the toy furniture thing fervently, and the effect is great.

That’s true. This Asa figure really isn’t that great overall. Although a 4 is a bit high, only reason behind that is its simplicity pose wise and the outfit.

This Asa Figurine doesn’t seem to be that great. Especially the face. The eyes are kinda weird as well. :/

Take this whatever way you want, but that group photo looks like a gashapon set, lol. Atelier Sai still can’t sculpt faces… Assa especially, looks super flat and randomish.
