Autumn Anime 2006 Line Up

With the current season of anime series coming to a close, a new season brings us many new shows. Having a browse through what is coming up I’ve made a list of must watch, will watch, and probably watch at some random time if I’m bored. But of course I’ll probably watch other series not mentioned here as a good friend of mine will tell me to watch it. And when he says it’s good and it’s something that I like, he’s usually right (he knows my taste in anime like a book).

Kanon

Kanon

Kanon was one of the first few animes series that I watched and I absolutely loved it. Now here it is again with better animation, and going at 24 episodes it is a definite must watch for me.

ARIA The Natural - 24

Akari is asleep in bed and pulls on her blanket. Aria rolls off his bed which wakes Akari up. Seeing that he is alright, Akari sees that it is raining outside and notes that training will be cancelled for the day. Later on Akari is on the computer when the telephone rings. As she was about to answer the telephone, Aika is the caller saying that she is slow and asking what she is doing. Afterwards Akari is walking with Aria and explains that on days when it is raining, the girls gather together and study, taking turns on whose place they study at. This time it’s Aika’s turn. Having met up with Alice first the two girls head towards Himeya and Aika is waiting for them outside.

Cielo - Amano Kozue Illustration Works III

Another day another wonderful item arriving at my doorstep. A package arriving from Amazon Japan and it was none other than the Amano Kozue Illustration Works III -Cielo- and the ARIA the ANIMATION Original Soundtrack. Having bought the first two books, Alpha and Stella, whilst I was in Japan earlier this year I was absolutely stoked when I heard of a third artbook coming.

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu Official Fanbook

Having went into the city on Wednesday for a job interview, I made a stop by Kinokuniya afterwards and looking around the artbook section I came across Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu Official Fanbook. Being a collector of artbooks and a fan of SHnY I had to buy this and at a small price of $25 AU it was worth it. Normally if I saw this on HLJ I would have ordered it but most artbooks I see on HLJ make their way to Kinokuniya anyhow.

ARIA The Natural - 23

In the morning, Alicia’s customers are an elderly couple and Akari is going along with them. Whilst going down a canal, the elderly wife suggests they have lunch at San Marco but the elderly husband says that the wife can go by herself as he has other things to do first. The wife agrees which makes Akari a bit worried. As they pass under the Bridge of Sighs, Akari decides to take a picture for the couple as a service. Looking through the view scope, Akari notices that the husband’s ears are red. Alicia asks her what is wrong but Akari replies nothing and takes the picture. Later on Akari is with Aika and Alice. Whilst talking about the elderly couple, the girls hear a loud voice. Akari realises it is the elderly husband’s voice and the girls head to the direction of the voice. Looking through a shop window, the girls see the husband yelling at the shopkeeper. Walking in, Akari asks him what the problem is but the husband says it is none of their business and walks out saying he cancelling. The girls then ask the shopkeeper what the problem was and he said that the husband wanted the gondola to row out to sea for a wedding. The girls are surprised and say that it is impossible in that gondola. At that Alice and Aika discuss about a wedding ritual used in Venezia on Man-Home. Hearing about the tradition used on Neo-Venezia, Akari thinks its wonderful and makes an embarrassing comment, which Aika strikes back with her usual “hazukashii serifu kinshi”.

My RAGE Against eBay

When I buy figures I usually use HLJ or buy from a local retailer, Tamarket. But I was after a particular figure and that was the Yujin SR DX Aika from ARIA. At the time of release I wasn’t that much of a fan but now I have to search across the various places on the Internet. Unsuccessful in my searches I turned to eBay. eBay is a last resort to buy anime related items due to various reasons.

  • Cost of shipping from the US to Australia
  • The amount of time it takes to arrive at my doorstep. Last item I bought from eBay took 4 weeks.
  • Sometimes more expensive than buying from Yahoo Japan Auctions.

Well not having much choice I happen to have found the Aika figure but little did I realise what I was getting into. Looking at the auction the amount the seller had in stock was 15. Opted for the Buy It Now as it was reasonably priced at $24.95 AU ($19 US) with shipping at $13.95 US. This was on the 23rd July when I made the purchase and paid for it. It is now just under 5 weeks and the item still hasn’t arrived. Hence I sent an email to the eBay seller asking if they have sent the item yet and under what shipping. I received a reply just a few minutes ago and this is what it was:

“please check your paypal for full refund because we don’t know the release date”

This really irritates me. Having spent so much time waiting for it to arrive only to find out that they don’t even have it in stock. My view on eBay has just reached an all time low and I will most likely not use it to buy anime related items again IF possible. But all is not loss as I do have my money back, except for a few dollars becuase of currency conversion and I am once again searching for an Aika figure.
