Kanon Prelude DVD

Arriving at my doorstep on Wednesday as well was none other than the Kanon Prelude DVD that I ordered from Amazon Japan. Only ¥1782 JPY it is relatively cheap and it even comes with a few extras.

DVD Cover

Being the Prelude DVD you get a Creditless Opening and Ending Sequence, 4 promotional videos (1 which includes voices), and an interview with Kazumi Ikeda. Kazumi Ikeda is both the character designer and the chief animation director for Kanon 2006. The picture above is the actual case for the DVD case itself. But what you also get in the Prelude package is an Introduction Note booklet covering character sketches in colour, sketches of various background settings, a few storyboard illustrations and a few full colour illustrations.

Also included inside the DVD case is a set of 6 postcards with colour illustrations. The 6 postcards are for the months from October 2006 to March 2007 which is the length the TV series will be running. 1 postcard as a group and then 5 postcards of the individual heroines.

Very lovely indeed, but with only 6 postcards makes me wonder if there are another 6 to collect. If that is the case they may come with the DVD release of the TV series. But after purchasing a few Japanese anime DVDs before, I can see next year will be another money draining year in terms of merchandise. But on a brighter note 25 days till Kanon TV 2006 airs and 25 days till my birthday!
