Early in the morning Akari wakes up and hears the sound of a train. Looking outside she sees the starlight sky and thinks that it is the Galactic Railroad and at that falls back asleep. In the morning Akari asks if Alicia heard the railway but Alicia says she didn’t. Later during practise, Akari asks Aika and Alice if they heard the railroad last but the two reply they did not. Alice is thinking that the railroad is the train towards death which starts to scare Akari. Aika tells Akari to be careful but Alice tells her that it can’t be avoid and makes a train whistling sound into her ear which scares her. Alice sees this and suggests that they continue with scary stories, but Aika begs her to stop.

Back at Aria Company, Akari is reading a book which has a picture of the Galactic Railroad but begins to doubt about what she heard. President Aria is looking at Akari and has an idea. Later that night President Aria wakes Akari up and hands a letter to her. Akari notices a large cat paw print on it and remembers back to when Cait Sith saved her, which makes her realise who the letter is from. Opening the letter she sees that it is a ticket for the Galactic Railroad. Seeing this Akari asks if this is Cait Sith’s invitation for the Galactic Railroad which he replies yes.

The next day during practise Akari is being spaced out. The two girls wonder what is wrong and ask her what the problem is. Akari is not sure but tries to explain about why she keeps meeting a specific person. Aika and Alice interpret this as Akari meeting a lover and start asking about who it is and what kind of person he is. Akari explains that he is warm, kind, being with him she feels safe, splendid hair and a wonderful tail. Upon hearing this, the two girls are a bit taken back so Aika asks if Akari is talking about President Aria. Akari says that she is not but someone larger, and that someone being the King of Cats. The two girls realise she is talking about Cait Sith and Akari wonders if it is ok to met him again. Alice says that they will never met him and feels that it is dangerous, where Aika asks if she is scared but Alice responds that she is being cautious.

Later in the afternoon, Akari goes to Calle Tram to see if there is a train track. All she sees is just a regular calle which ends at the waterside. Staring out to the seas Akari remembers the times that she met Cait Sith. Back at Aria Company, Alicia sees Akari sitting out on the gondola and is worried about her and goes out to talk to her. Akari explains to Alicia about receiving the Galactic Railroad ticket and feels that she shouldn’t go, not that it is dangerous but she feels that she doesn’t know about Cait Sith. Alicia notes how Akari is always making wonderful encounters and wanting to know more about Aqua, but Alicia thinks that maybe this time Aqua wants to know about Akari this time. Alicia also feels that Akari knows more about Aqua’s heart and is probably why she was chosen.

Later that night, Akari is thinking about what Alicia said that afternoon and agrees with her. President Aria is now dressed up and the two head to Calle Tram. Upon arriving, Akari notices train tracks and a dead man sign which were not their before. After waiting for a little while, the lights turn on and the train arrives. Staring at the train which has now stopped, President Aria get Akari’s attention and she notices a few cats with tickets in their mouths. Surprised by this, Akari then realises a very large conductor standing behind her. The conductor walks over to the cats, and blows a whistle which get the cats to line up. As the conductor is stamping tickets, President Aria points out to Akari that she should line up as well. As she is about to line up, a small cat is crying out to the conductor. But the conductor won’t let the cat on without a ticket. Akari sees this and decides to give her ticket to the small cat. The cat thanks Akari and boards the train. Oce alone, Akari looks up to the conductor and asks if he is Cait Sith and wants to thank him for saving her from San Michael island. The conductor steps closer to Akari and starts patting her head and eventually places his hands on her cheeks. Akari places one hand on the conductor’s hand and starts asking him where does he comes from and is he always on Aqua. She also starts asking why does he keep meeting her, protecting her and asks exactly who he is whilst remembering when Cait Sith hugged her on San Michael island. Commenting on that he is big and warm, she starts wondering if he is Aqua’s…..but she doesn’t finish the sentence. At this point, the conductor reaches into his pocket, takes out the stamp and stamps both Akari’s and President Aria’s forehead, although surprised by this, Akari thanks the conductor. The train is now leaving with Akari staring as it heads out. At the last carriage, the conductor walks out and takes his hat off to reveal himself as Cait Sith and bows to Akari. With that Akari is still staring at the train and sees the train head up into the sky. Akari now believes that it was the Galactic Railroad and suggests to President Aria that they should come back someday.

In the morning, Akari wakes up wondering if it was a dream. At the same time, President Aria wakes up and stares at Akari. Akari then gets really happy and hugs President Aria in which she gets a mirror to see that she and President Aria still have the stamps on their foreheads and Akari is glad that it was not a dream. Later that morning Akari is talking with Alicia about last night. Akari thinks that if Cait Sith was Aqua’s heart she would…

Preview:

I was looking forward to this episode some time ago but after watching it at this point I think it was good timing. The fact that this is Cait Sith leaving on the Galactic Railroad could mean this is the last time we will see Cait Sith or until the last episode. But like alot of other episodes there are some added elements as opposed to the manga counterpart, but the chapter that this episode is based on (Navigation 30 - Volume 6) is quite short. The only thing I didn’t like was in the manga this chapter is set in winter whilst in the anime it is still summer. But seeing Akari in casual clothing made up for that.

In relation to the Galactic Railroad, I liked how Alice was thinking along the line that you ride the train if you die. This is in relation to Night on the Galactic Railroad. Also I interpreted ginga tetsudou as Galactic Railroad where ginga = Milky Way and tetsudou = railroad is the literal translation. Overall this episode was a great way to send off Cait Sith and it gives closure on on all the meetings that Akari had with Cait Sith. But given the questions Akari asked it opened even more ideas on the identity of Cait Sith but I don’t think we will ever know, not even in the manga.

Looking at the preview, the first one is the Special Navigation from Volume 6 but at this point I am not sure which chapter the second part is from. But from the first half I’m looking forward to seeing it.
