Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: A New Translation III - Love is the Pulse of the Stars

The third and final movie to the new Zeta Gundam movie trilogy was indeed something I was looking forward to. Well my prays have been answered and I just happened to have watched it. It was truely spectacular in a sense that it feels like you are watching the original 1985-1986 TV series again. And so it should since parts of the movie are digitally remastered versions of the TV series with addition to new animation.

Just a little background about the movie trilogy. The trilogy was made to celebrate Gundam’s 25th Anniversary and the 20th Anniversary of Zeta Gundam. According to original writer and director Tomino Yoshiyuki, the movie series was created to fix some of the problems he identified in the Zeta TV series and to bring the twenty-year old series into a twenty-first century context for the new generation now experiencing the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED series. The first of these, “Heirs to the Stars,” opened on May 28, 2005, followed by “Lovers” on October 29, 2005, and “Love is the Pulse of the Stars” on March 6, 2006.

Seeing all the action in new animation was indeed spectacular and it is something that could not be produced back in its time. Although there are a few slight changes to the actual storyline but it does not affect the flow in any way. Majority of the original cast of Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam reprise their roles except a select few. But a major change is the ending of the movie. Although not true to the TV series, it is very unique and the ending from the movie was what I was expecting when I was watching the TV series. Even with the minor changes to all three movies, it does not deprive Zeta Gundam of anything. One major aspect of Zeta Gundam is the old style story-telling which is rare in more modern / current types of anime.

Truely these three movies are for the Zeta Gundam fans, but I’d recommend anyone watch this even if you are not that much of a Gundam fan. If you have seen the original TV series then you would appreciate this trilogy even more. At the recent Anime Expo 2006 held in early July, Bandai Entertainment annouced that they are planning on bringing the trilogy to the US. Of course when this trilogy comes out on DVD, I know I will be buying them for sure.

The new neat & colourful look to Adunitisity

Well I decided to go with a new theme for Adunitisity as the previous one seemed rather bland and was green everywhere. Now with this theme, called Summer Sun I’m more happy with it. But it wasn’t an easy task of install, switch to new theme and voila. Oh no I had much more trouble than that. At first it wouldn’t display the article as a whole due to some bilingual functions. So I spent a good few hours figuring out the single.php file and tried to fix it. I managed to fix it after a a while but it was rather messy. Then I checked back freshlabs site and saw he fixed it all, and with better code than myself. So all that work for nothing.

Well its up and running now and I have a few things I’ll probably need to change on it. Maybe create a new banner as well. Anyway please leave your comments on what you think of the new look. Also later up ARIA The Natural episode 22 post will follow up in a few minutes.

Today we see the release of Kanon Prelude DVD by Kyoto Animation and what is contained on this Prelude DVD is creditless opening and ending videos, and four promotion videos. Having seen the 2002 version of Kanon I was a fan from the very start. Now after watching this Prelude DVD…..OH MY GOD it is so damn pretty.
