New lighting setup

Well using the towel as a backdrop just wasn’t working out. So I decided to try something else and since I recently got a shipment, I made this makeshift lighting setup.

It does well for the time being. I’m thinking of using a larger box and have the entire inside lined with white cardboard. At the moment I’m just using blank A4 paper. The only thing I have to get used to is the amount of lighting. Due to the digital camera doing auto balancing based on the amount of lighting there is, but it could be also the orange part of my lighting. As with that I am planning on buying a new camera next year. Looking towards getting a digital SLR but this is all speculation at the moment. Its more of the fact that I require to fork out about $1200 if I want something cheap and decent.

Why not just buy a cheapo light box/cube from ebay? They are pretty good to allow seamless backgrounding and such.

But most importantly is the lighting I guess. You got that right. Pro’s use blue gel for lighting.

HLJ box ftw, btw.
