After being with Westnet for about 19 months, it was time to change to a different ISP. Before I was on 512kb/128kb with 14GB peak and off peak (totally 28GB) plus free PIPE traffic totalling $59.95 AU per month. I now moved to G-Node, which gives me 1.5MB with 20GB peak alowance but unlimited downloads between 10p.m to 7a.m. The best part is that I get more download allowance and faster speeds and only pay $10 more than what I did before. Its quite awesome now and I still get free PIPE traffic. Now to catch up on my downloading as I haven’t been downloading anything for the past 3 days.

Posted yesterday, news of Amano Kozue’s (known for ARIA) 3rd illustration artbook is to be released. Originally I heard of this from hisuiIBMPower4 from HongFire, but this confirms it. Titled “Cielo” it is to be released on the 30th August 2006 and the price at 3,130 JPY (including tax). Amazon don’t have it listed yet neother does HLJ, but I’ll definetly be buying this. When I picked up both Alpha and Stella I absolutely loved the artwork, hence now me being a BIG Amano Kozue fan. The above picture is a sneak preview, but I’m hoping it will be just as good as the previous two and hope that it will even include some of Kozue’s older works.
Well using the towel as a backdrop just wasn’t working out. So I decided to try something else and since I recently got a shipment, I made this makeshift lighting setup.

It does well for the time being. I’m thinking of using a larger box and have the entire inside lined with white cardboard. At the moment I’m just using blank A4 paper. The only thing I have to get used to is the amount of lighting. Due to the digital camera doing auto balancing based on the amount of lighting there is, but it could be also the orange part of my lighting. As with that I am planning on buying a new camera next year. Looking towards getting a digital SLR but this is all speculation at the moment. Its more of the fact that I require to fork out about $1200 if I want something cheap and decent.

After seeing the E3 Preview for this game last year, I finally obtained a copy and played it for a good 4 hours. I must say this game is absolutely awesome. Developed by Human Head Studios, they use a heavily modified version of the Doom 3 engine to produce this first person shooter. You play as a Cherokee Indian named Tommy and you get adbucted by aliens. Now you fight back in order to save your girlfriend Jen and save the rest of mankind.
There are three main things I like about this game. Gravity flipping, spirit mode and portal technology. In E3’s preview clip you had the ability to change the gravity pending on your location. You can also walk on walls which add a whole new range of complexity compared to most FPS games. Spirit mode gives you the ability to use your spirit to go places that your physical body cannot go, but of course your spirit can take damage. Last but not least and probably the best of all, portal technology. Similar to that of Half Life but on a more grander scale. Going through portals gives a new realm to gameplay and puzzle solving. Enemies can appear out of nowhere but you can also travel through these portals.
So far I am about 10 chapters into the game and this game has about 22 chapters. Though there are a few things that I don’t like about the game, one mainly that it is really really dark in some places. I know that it is based on alien abduction and all, but it still realtively hard to see some things. Also the other thing is the ability to die. Once you lose all your health, you go into Death Walking. Pretty much you goto the spirit realm in spirit form and you have to defeat fallen wraiths in order to recover health for both body and spirit before returning to you body. Though I can see a good side to this and is that you don’t have to constantly keep reloading when you die as that gets rather annoying after a while.
Overall I am enjoying this game as I have yet to uncover all the weapons available in the game. Thus I rate the game 9 out of 10.

Release date of a Blu-ray version of the anime AIR TV has been released. Available in November but at a huge price tag of 29, 800 yen (approx. $340 AU). It includes all 14 episodes, a bonus disc which includes cast interviews and even a 3 minute version of the opening theme. Now the only problem I see with this is the lack of a Blu-ray player. Supposedly the Sony Playstation 3 is released on the 11th of November and they are possible trying to co-release it. Well I see it being a good idea but chances of PS3 coming out to Australia on release date AND getting one is pretty slim. Also I have no plans on buying a PS3 anytime soon.
