In a few hours I will be on my way to Melbourne for Animania this Saturday weekend. As some of you know I am the Treasurer Executive of the JAUWS (Japanese Animation UWS) club and this will be my last major event in which I will be helping in as I am most definetly graduating. If I have net access I will add updates as I go throughout the weekend but if not, I’ll post on Sunday night or Monday morning. Well off I go!

Australia is out of the World Cup
Published by June 27th, 2006 in Miscellaneous. 0 Comments 111 ViewsSuch a sad day for Australians all around. The Socceroos have lost to Italy 1-0 with Italy scoring by a penalty shot in the last minute of the game. But that is the result and now it must be accepted. Overall the game was evenly matched in the 1st half with Australia with possesion of the ball about 56% of the time. Italy had a good defense against Australia but until Marco Materazzi was given a red card at the 50th minute Italy was down to 10 players. At that point Australia was on the full offensive and they played really well. The penalty came when Lukas Neill was judged to have brought down Fabio Grosso in stoppage time.
I believed that Australia has done well in this World Cup, despite many bad referee decisions, and that they had the capability to make it to the quarter finals. Like many Australians, I am proud of how far the Socceroos have gone and I am proud to be an Australian.
Wind ~A Breath of Heart~ translation release
Published by June 25th, 2006 in Games. 0 Comments 243 ViewsThe guys at NoNameLosers (NNL) have finally released their translation patch to the H-Game Wind ~A Breath of Heart~. Although this should be a joyous time but instead it has turned out to be something much more. For one thing, the guys at NNL have decided to not release the patch publically. So to speak you have to prove that you own an original copy of the game. But like many game companies there have been various changes they’ve made or re-releases thus the copy that you must own is none other than the Re: gratitude version that can be bought here as the translation patch will only work with this version.
The reasoning behind NNL’s actions can be found on their website and I for one do support their actions. To put it simply, its to stop the amount of piracy that is occurring. After the release of the Planetarian translation patch by insani the amount of piracy increased a vast amount. NNL have reflected upon this and have decided to do what they are exactly doing right now. Though I do not agree on a particular point of the conditions required in order to obtain the patch. (C) You must destroy the support disc, then place the remains label-side-up on top of the box. You do not need the support disc for our patch. Now according to HimeyaShop the game costs $78 US, with a $20 US EMS shipping charge (they will only accept EMS for MAJORITY of orders), so that makes it just under $100 US and they want me to destroy something I bought? No one in their right mind would do such a thing right? Before they implemented these conditions I was more than willing to purchase the game, but now I am turned off by the idea. Although the Support Disk is obsolete I still prefer to keep it.
Now NNL have set a deadline to when they will stop distribution of the patch and that is the 23rd July. Roughly over 3-4 weeks till then allowing time for people to purchase the game and take the test. But given this amount of time I’m still not inclined to purchase the game until that one condition is changed. See the links below to view more on the issue.
Looks like NNL have decided to change again. According to VisualNews’s page they have decided to change the policy and will update when they have made a decision. There have also been some discussons on the whole NNL and Wind translation patch distribution and one of them being at HongFire Anime Network itself. So far many people have valid arguements but I do not see this problem being resolved anytime soon, or in a non-ugly manner so to speak.
Australia goes onto the 2nd Round
Published by June 23rd, 2006 in Miscellaneous. 0 Comments 107 ViewsIts official. Australia now goes onto the 2nd Round of the World Cup as they have drawed with Croatia at 2 all. At the start I was kinda worried as Croatia had a strong start on the offensive and scored the first goal of the match within 2 minutes of kick off. But Chris Moore made a comeback with a penalty kick at the 38th minute. Croatia’s second goal came with a rebound off the goalkeeper Zeljko Kalic which bobbed over him as he saved the goal. But Australia made a comeback with a equaliser from Harry Kewell at the 79th minute. This was indeed a good game and Australia was in good shape. Croatia were also in good shape but the Australian defense was strong at the end. I look forward to seeing the next match with Australia versus Italy in the 2nd Round of the World Cup.
With payday being today I decided to buy a game. And it being none other than Mario Kart DS. Originally priced at $69.95 AU today I bought it for $52.46 AU as EB Games was still having their sale. Though I think this sale has been going on for nearly a month. I had a toss up between this and Brain Training but I guess I wanted to play something zainy, and it also means I can try out the wireless on my DS Lite.

After playing for about an hour, I was not really impressed with the game. I’ve heard from many people that it is fun, guess I have yet to get to the fun part. I tried Grand Prix mode but the 50cc class, it just seems rather slow to me and regardless I am always in the lead for majority of the game. But I’m guessing it’ll be slightly more challenging later on. Well at least I can play against people online and I think that is a rather funky feature of the DS system which you can’t do on the PSP (PlayStation Portable). Oh and this is not the first game for my DS Lite. I will still play Osu! Tatekae! Ouendan and I am determined to finish it regardless.

Well I stayed up late to watch the second match of Australia with their opponents none other than the World Champions, Brazil. Unfortunetly Australia lost with a 2-0 victory to Brazil. Adriano with the first goal and Fred with the second goal that came in the final minutes of the match. Despite the lose, Australia played quite well against Brazil, they were equal in strategies, techniques, and fitness. Their defense was strong in the first half of the match but their offensive was not aggressive enough. Brazil happened to have posession of the ball majority of the time but their defense showed signs of gaps giving Australia a number of chances. Australia also had many close shots to scoring a goal especially after Kewell was substituted in.
Now Brazil have qualified from their Group F qualifiers, but that does not mean the end of Australia, they still have one chance left and that is in their final Group F match against Croatia. They have to either draw or win against Croatia to qualify. Fight on Socceroos!
